Trading Timeout stops impulsive trades before they happen — by pausing your access to trading sites for a short, timed cooling-off period whenever you choose to activate it. What it does Trading Timeout is a browser extension built by Trade Mentorfy that blocks access to trading platforms and brokers you choose to protect — TradingView, eToro, Tradovate, Interactive Brokers, and any other site you add. When protection is active and you try to open one of those sites, the tab is replaced with a simple cooling-off screen showing a live countdown until access returns. That's the whole idea: create a small amount of friction between the urge to trade and the ability to act on it, right when your judgement is most likely to be compromised — after a loss, during a revenge-trading spiral, or in the middle of a FOMO entry. How it works Install and open the popup — click the Trading Timeout icon next to your address bar any time to see your protection status and turn it on or off with one switch. Choose what to protect — add any broker or trading platform you use. Each site gets its own toggle, so you can protect everything or just the ones that cause you trouble. Get redirected automatically — try to open a protected site while protection is active, and the page is replaced with a paused screen showing exactly how long until it unlocks. See your own reasoning reflected back — if you noted why you activated the block, that note is shown to you during the wait, along with an optional, non-scoring check-in on how you're feeling. Access restores itself — once the timer ends, the site reopens automatically. Nothing is deleted, no account is restricted, and no data is lost. Why install it Most damaging trades aren't the result of bad analysis — they're the result of good analysis overridden by emotion in the moment. Loss aversion, tilt, and the urge to "win it back" all operate faster than deliberate thinking does. Trading Timeout doesn't try to predict your trades or tell you what to buy or sell — it simply adds a short, honest pause at the exact moment impulse is highest, giving your slower, more deliberate thinking a chance to catch up. It's built for retail traders who already know their own patterns and want a tool that intervenes on their behalf, on their terms. You decide which sites to protect and when to activate a block — Trading Timeout just holds the line once you've asked it to. A few honest limitations Trading Timeout runs in your browser, which means it can be disabled from your browser's extension settings if you choose to. It isn't designed to be unbeatable — it's designed to be a meaningful pause, since most impulsive trades happen within minutes, and the friction of deliberately disabling a tool you installed for yourself is often enough to break that cycle. It also doesn't run on mobile browsers, since browser extensions aren't supported there. Trading Timeout is not a trading tool, a signals service, or a source of financial advice.
