A friend texts you a screenshot of an article. Days later you actually want to read it, but the link never came with it, and now it's gone. Or you screenshot one panel of a dashboard to point something out to a coworker, but they can't open the real thing to look around for themselves. Every screenshot forgets where it came from the moment it's taken. TraceShot makes it remember. When you capture with TraceShot, it embeds an invisible ID into the image. Drop that screenshot back in later, even after it's been shared around, and TraceShot hands you the exact link it came from. So the article is one click away, and your coworker lands right on that dashboard. How it works: 1. Click the TraceShot icon and select any part of the page you're on. 2. TraceShot saves the screenshot with an invisible, traceable watermark baked in. 3. When anyone needs to know where the image came from, they drop it back in. TraceShot reads the watermark and recovers the source link. Your screenshots stay yours: - The image never leaves your device. TraceShot only stores a bit of metadata, the page's URL and an ID, so it can look the link up later. It never stores the picture itself. - Decoding happens right in your browser. - The watermark holds up through normal sharing, iMessage, Slack, email, Discord.
