Overview

Trace UI, APIs, and analytics on any webpage

Tracekit helps developers, QA engineers, and analytics teams understand what a webpage is really doing — which UI areas trigger which API calls, and which analytics events fire when users interact. No cloud account required. All capture and correlation runs locally in Chrome. Data stays on your device unless you export it. WHAT YOU CAN DO • API scan — Intercept fetch and XHR requests without Chrome’s debugger warning bar • Section mapping — Auto-detect UI regions (cards, panels, widgets) and link them to API calls • Manual refinement — Pick, remove, or merge sections using the on-page toolbar • Analytics tracker — Capture Analytics events from multiple vendors. • Sanity mode — Upload a CSV spec and validate event names and parameters in real time • Exports — Download results as JSON or CSV from the side panel HOW TO USE 1. Open any http/https website 2. Click the Tracekit icon → Start Scan 3. Use the side panel (APIs, Analytics, Sanity tabs) to review live results 4. Scroll and click the page to trigger network and analytics activity 5. Use the floating toolbar on the page to adjust detected sections 6. Export when you’re done SIDE PANEL TABS APIs — Sections linked to API calls, request/response details, curl export Analytics — Live event stream with provider, trigger element, and parameters Sanity — Compare captured events against your tracking specification PRIVACY • Processing is local only — nothing is sent to Tracekit servers • Session data is stored in chrome.storage.session per tab • Exports are saved to your device via Chrome downloads • Optional Google Sheets export (if configured by you) uses Google’s APIs directly PERMISSIONS (why Tracekit needs them) • activeTab / scripting / host access — Read page structure and intercept network on the site you’re debugging • sidePanel — Show the results panel alongside the page • storage — Keep scan results for the current session • downloads — Save JSON/CSV exports • clipboardWrite — Copy curl commands and event JSON WHO IT’S FOR • Frontend and full-stack developers debugging API-driven UIs • QA validating that clicks fire the right backend calls • Analytics engineers checking events • Anyone auditing third-party tags on a staging site LIMITATIONS • Cross-origin iframes are not scanned • Correlation between UI and APIs uses heuristics — manual linking is available when needed • Works on http and https pages only Tracekit is built for debugging and validation workflows on sites you have permission to test.
