Overview
Track fanfiction reading: import AO3/FFN metadata into Trace and sync progress.
Track AO3 and FanFiction.net reading from your browser: save stories for later, see your reading status, and keep chapter progress in a private library you can access anywhere. The browser extension keeps your library of stories visible on the archive pages, so you can see at a glance whether you've read a story before, and what you thought. With Trace you can: • See whether a supported work is saved, reading, paused, caught up, finished, or dropped while you browse. • Keep chapter progress visible. • Automatically track chapter progress as you read. • Add a 5 star rating as you read. • Hide works from Trace’s browsing overlay when you do not want to see them again. • Import entire bookmark and listing pages into your private library. • Login to tracefiction.com for deeper search, filtering, personal notes, personal tags, 5 star ratings, collections, and more. It quickly becomes a rich personal library of all the stories you've read across sites. • Access Trace and all your stories on any device where you can login to the site and download the extension. • If you are on iOS you can also download the app to use on iOS Safari. • If you are on iOS you can also download the companion reader app which tracks the ePubs you read offline in the same library. This extension requires a free account at tracefiction.com, which is where your stories are tracked for you. Privacy: • Trace does not (and will never) ask for your AO3 or FanFiction.net password. • The extension does not request browser cookie permission. • Trace only reads visible story metadata and reading-progress signals on supported pages, not story text or unrelated browsing history. • Your Trace library is private to you. Only chosen collections have the option to be made public. • The browser extension source code is published for inspection at https://github.com/tracefiction/trace-browser-extension All this is completely free until your library gets big enough to need more storage. I've made 100 stories the limit for free users and then it's a small monthly or yearly payment. I'm hoping I can increase the free limit as we get more users. The costs go towards supporting development and paying for all the features that require cloud storage, database, api, App Store, etc. I've also tried to keep the cost down to the lowest feasible amount to support this since unfortunately payment providers and app stores do take a cut! Trace is an unofficial companion for supported sites. It is not affiliated with Archive of Our Own, the Organization for Transformative Works, FanFiction.net, or FictionPress.
