Overview
Track fanfiction reading: import AO3/FFN metadata into Trace and sync progress.
This extension requires a free account at tracefiction.com before the extension can save stories. So what is it? Put simply, Trace is a reading memory for fanfiction. Keep a private record of the works you save or read with Trace: where you left off, what you finished, what you dropped, what you loved, and the notes you want future-you to have. You keep reading on AO3 and FanFiction.net. Trace remembers the rest. For AO3 and FanFiction.net in Chrome • Add supported works while browsing. • See your Trace status directly on supported archive pages. • Track chapter progress automatically as you read. • Pick up from the chapter you left on. • Change reading status from the archive page. • Hide works from your Trace overlay and undo in place if you change your mind. One Library for Your Reading Memory • Save works with reading status, chapter progress, notes, personal tags, and ratings. • Search and filter by fandom, relationship, tag, status, source, rating, and more. • Bring AO3 History, Bookmarks, Marked for Later, FanFiction.net works, open tabs, and manually added works into one searchable library. • Keep your reading from becoming separate piles of memory. Remember Why It Mattered • Add private notes, tags, ratings, and context for future-you. • Mark works as saved, reading, paused, finished, or dropped without losing track of them. • Find stories again by the details you actually remember. • See reading stats and insights about your private library. • Group recommendations into collections and share them when you choose. Privacy and Trust Trace is a companion to the archives, not a replacement. It does not host or mirror story content. The Chrome extension reads visible story metadata from supported AO3 and FanFiction.net pages you open so it can save and update your library. It does not ask for your AO3 or FanFiction.net password, does not request browser cookie permissions, and does not store story text. Trace is not affiliated with AO3 or FanFiction.net. Trace is free for libraries up to 100 works. Subscriptions unlock Trace Unlimited for expanded storage and premium features.
