"toT — Reading time" estimates how long it will take you to read the text you select on a web page. Select some text and you will see a subtle panel with the estimated reading time, the word count, and your current WPM, or words per minute. From the extension icon, you can enable or disable it for the current site and adjust your WPM. The extension calculates locally and saves your preferences in your browser. To avoid accidental activation with very short selections, the panel appears only when you select at least 12 words. Main features: • Reading-time estimation from selected text. • Word counting for multiple languages with Intl.Segmenter. • Consistent handling of hyphenated compounds. • WPM adjustable from the extension popup. • WPM preference saved locally. • Per-site control from the extension icon. • The extension respects your privacy: it does not use analytics or telemetry, and it does not rely on external servers. Selection tips: • To select all text on a page, use Ctrl + A on Windows and Linux, or Command (⌘) + A on macOS. If focus is inside a text field, the shortcut may select only the content of that field. • To select a long passage, mark the beginning of the text, hold Shift, and click at the end of the passage you want to select. The extension is a lightweight browser version of toT’s basic logic. It does not extract full articles, does not sync with the desktop app, and only works on pages where Chrome allows extensions to run.
