Toper Blocker — Ad & Popup Blocker
Overview
Toper Blocker hides ads and trackers, removes popups and cookie banners, blocks malicious hosts, and needs no account.
Toper Blocker is a browser extension that cuts through the noise of modern web advertising so pages load cleanly and readably. On most sites, ad scripts and trackers account for a significant share of network traffic before the actual page content can render. Toper Blocker cancels these requests up front using Chrome's Declarative Net Request API, which evaluates bundled static rule lists for advertising, analytics and tracking, and a short blocklist of reported malicious and phishing hosts. Because filtering happens in the browser itself, no browsing data needs to be sent anywhere for the extension to work. Beyond network-level blocking, the extension also performs cosmetic cleanup. Banner and inline ad slots on news, shopping, and video pages are hidden before paint so the page layout stays clean with no empty rectangles where ad frames used to load. Common newsletter popups, subscribe overlays, and exit-intent modals are removed from the DOM automatically so users do not have to dismiss them manually on every visit. Cookie consent and GDPR banners are suppressed unless the user explicitly whitelists a particular site to see them. An interactive Block Element tool is available from the popup via a single explicit click. This tool lets the user hover the mouse cursor over any unwanted element on any page, select it with a click, and hide it permanently for that domain. A green highlight border follows the cursor during selection so the target node is clearly visible before confirmation. Hidden elements are re-hidden automatically on future visits to the same host without further user action. All settings and user preferences are stored locally on the user's device using chrome.storage.local. There is no account, no login, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no remote service. Toper Blocker does not collect or transmit any personal user data, does not modify search results, does not redirect traffic, and does not fetch remote code of any kind. All filtering logic is contained inside the extension package at the time it is uploaded to the Chrome Web Store. User controls provided through the extension popup and the Options page include the ability to pause all blocking temporarily for the currently open site, with a permanent whitelist available in Options for domains users want to exempt fully. Users can independently toggle each individual category of protection: advertising blocking, tracking protection, popup removal, cookie banner hiding, and malicious host protection. Custom hidden element selectors added via the interactive Block Element tool, as well as the site whitelist, are importable and exportable as JSON text files for local backup and transfer between browsers. All product features described here are implemented entirely within the extension package and do not rely on external servers, remote rule updates, or third-party service calls. The extension does not make claims about display metrics or saved resource counts beyond what is actively demonstrated on page: visible advertising and tracking nodes are removed from pages and the associated network requests are cancelled before they leave the browser.
