)Overview
View CAD files in 3D right in Chrome, as you download them or from your computer, and check machined parts for manufacturability.
Click a link to a CAD file and see the part in 3D, right in Chrome. Toolpath CAD Viewer opens STEP files and other common CAD formats in the Toolpath 3D viewer as you download them, and still saves the file to your downloads. A local CAD file can also be opened in the viewer or drag and dropped directly into your browser. No account is needed to view parts. Try the sample part to see a DFM check without an API key. OPENS FILES HOWEVER THEY ARRIVE • Links to CAD files open in a new tab beside the page. • Files a website builds and saves for you, and downloads the server names, open too. • Choose which file types open in the viewer on the options page. LOOK AT THE PART • Orbit, pan and zoom with the mouse controls of the CAD program you already use. • Every tool sits in one toolbar under the part. Keep it grouped into menus, or spread it out with the tools you use most pinned in place. Switch layouts in settings, and the viewer remembers your layout and pins. • Section view: cut the part open, slide the cut through it, and measure the cut face. • Measure by clicking: pick faces, holes or points and each measurement is labeled on the part. Hold Alt to pick points, snapping to corners and edges. • Show the stock, axes, a 5 mm grid or a banana for scale, or switch to wireframe. • See the part's size in millimeters or inches, in light or dark mode. FILES WITH MORE THAN ONE BODY • A file with several bodies opens as one model, each body in its own color. • Step through the Bodies list to see one body alone, then open it on its own. Step back to all bodies at any time. • With an API key, every body gets a DFM check, and the rules and features lists cover them all. CHECK IT FOR MANUFACTURABILITY (DFM) Add a Toolpath API key and the DFM check runs as each part opens. It finds the machined features on the part, such as holes, pockets, bosses and walls, and checks each one against your rules. • Standard checks to start from: deep features, features that need a very small tool, features far below the top of the part, and sharp inside corners. • Change any rule in place, add your own, import and export rule sets, or copy a prompt that has an AI assistant write a rule set for you. • Faces that break a rule take that rule's color on the part. • Mark the sharp inside corners a rule flags, in that rule's color. • See the threads in tapped holes: when the check knows a hole's standard thread, such as M6 x 1 or 1/4-20 UNC, the viewer draws it in the bore at its pitch and hand. Turn it on or off with the Threads button. • Click a feature for its details: its measurements, milling considerations, the rules it breaks and its reach. Zoom to it, isolate it, or Shift-click faces to compare them. • See the widest tool that fits where a feature is tightest, po it, and color the part by the direction each face is machined from. • Tips on first use walk you through the rules, the colors and CHECK IT FOR TURNING (PREVIEW) Switch the DFM check to Turning to see how much of the part one • See the turning axis, and show the round bar it fits in as it • Turned faces take one color and the faces left for milling anick a kind to find those features on the part. • Click a turned feature for its details, and zoom to it or isolate it. • Standard turning checks to start from: features with a sharp es along the axis. Change them or add your own, the same way asyour milling rules. Get an API key at portal.toolpath.com. HOW IT WORKS AND YOUR DATA The CAD file you open is sent to the Toolpath Engine, which turD mesh for the viewer. Only that file is sent. Viewing is freeand needs no sign-up.
