Overview

Create Trello cards from Gmail emails and web pages. Keep a link to the source, choose card details and undo when needed.

Turn Gmail emails and web pages into Trello cards with TodoPin. Create cards from Gmail, or open the card form from a web page using the toolbar, keyboard shortcut, or right-click menu. Choose a Trello board and list, review the card details, and keep a link back to the source. A Trello account is required. Works in Chrome on desktop; some browser pages cannot be captured. From Gmail - One click, one card. TodoPin adds a button to the toolbar of an open email. With a default board and list chosen once in the settings, one click turns the email into a card: the subject as the title, the text of the email and a link back to it in the description. Prefer to decide each time? Switch the setting and the button opens a form instead. - A form when you want details. Choose the board and list, edit the title and text, add labels, a member, a due date and attachments. In a long thread, pick which message the card is made from. - See which emails have a card. When TodoPin knows an email's card, Gmail shows its board and list, and the button opens the card instead of making another. You can also add the email as a comment on it. After a reinstall or on another computer, "Find existing card" can bring the link back: it looks through the open cards on your default and recent boards (up to six) for the footer TodoPin wrote, and the Advanced section of the settings can search up to ten boards you choose. It needs that footer to be intact. - Cards straight from the inbox. Tick a few emails, click TodoPin and confirm: it creates a card for each (up to 50 at a time) with the subject, the people, the date and a link. Open one of those emails later and choose "Add email text" to add its text to the card. - Undo. Every card and every batch comes with an Undo. From web pages - Click the TodoPin icon in the browser toolbar and choose "Create card from this page", right-click the page or some selected text, or press Alt+Shift+T. - Check the title and the text (your selection, or else the page's description), choose the board and list, and press "Create card". The card keeps a link back to the page; if you selected text, the link can open the page with your quote highlighted. - Already made a card for this page? Find it (TodoPin looks through the open cards on your default and recent boards, up to six), add to that card as a comment, or create a new card: TodoPin then remembers the new card as the page’s card, and the earlier card stays in Trello. Undo is there too. - The browser lets extensions read some pages only in part and some not at all (its own pages, local files, the Chrome Web Store). TodoPin then says so, or fills in only the title and the address. Nothing is read from a page until you use one of the ways above. Getting started Sign in to Trello in this browser. Install TodoPin, open its settings, click "Connect Trello" and allow access in Trello's own window. Pick a default board and list; cards from Gmail and from web pages both start there. That's it. Privacy TodoPin has no server. The content of an email or a web page leaves your browser only when you ask TodoPin to create a card, add text to one or comment on one, and then it goes only to Trello. No analytics, no ads.
