Overview

Expands every Toddle assessment tool into per-criterion columns, and hides student flags across Toddle with one switch.

SEE YOUR WHOLE CLASS AT ONCE, AND SHARE YOUR SCREEN WITHOUT THINKING TWICE The Toddle Enhancement Extension adds two things to the Toddle gradebook that teachers ask for constantly: a way to see every student's rubric results side by side, and a way to hide student flags before a gradebook goes on a projector or into a screen share. It runs only on web.toddleapp.com. It reads the gradebook you already have open, using the session you are already signed in with. It writes nothing back to Toddle, sends nothing anywhere, and works entirely inside your browser. THE PROBLEM WITH READING A RUBRIC IN TODDLE Toddle's gradebook shows a standards-based rubric, a criterion rubric or a checklist as a single icon in a single cell. To find out what a student actually got, you click the cell and a panel opens on the right. To see the next student, you close it and click again. That is fine for one student. It is not fine when you are trying to answer a question about the class: which standards is this group not meeting? Who has not been assessed on criterion three? Where is the pattern? Answering any of those means opening the panel once per student and holding thirty results in your head. This extension turns that cell into columns. One column per standard, per criterion, per checklist item — whatever the assessment actually contains — with every student's result visible at once, in the same grid, in the same order Toddle already shows them. The pattern you were looking for becomes something you can see rather than something you have to reconstruct. WHAT IT EXPANDS Every assessment tool Toddle supports, not just one: • Standards-based rubrics — one column per standard • Criterion rubrics — one column per criterion row • Score-based rubrics — criteria plus the score • Single-point rubrics • Checklists — one column per item • Learning goals • Comments • Grade scales Column headings use whatever your school has configured. If your standards carry short codes in brackets, the code becomes the heading and the full wording sits on hover. Long level names are shortened to initials in the cell, with the complete descriptor — and its description — on hover. Nothing about any particular school's rubric scale is built into this extension. It does not ship a list of levels, descriptors or standards and try to match yours against it. It reads what your Toddle has and renders that. A school using "Exceeding / Meeting / Approaching / Beginning" and a school using a 1–7 scale both see their own wording, because both are simply read from Toddle at the moment you expand the column. HIDE STUDENT FLAGS BEFORE YOU SHARE YOUR SCREEN Toddle marks students with flags. They are useful — that is the point of them — and they are exactly what you do not want on a projector, in a screen share with a parent, in a lesson observation, or in a screenshot pasted into a planning document. The extension adds a switch to the Toddle header. One click hides student flags across Toddle: in the gradebook grid, on the Standards and Learning goals tabs, in Attendance and the attendance dashboard, in the class portfolio, in All submissions, in the grading view, in global search results, and on the student profile header. Three things worth knowing about how it behaves: • It hides flags, not names. Students stay identifiable to you — you are still teaching. It is the flag that comes off the screen, because that is the piece of information the room should not be reading. • It stays on. The setting persists as you move around Toddle and across browser sessions, so you arm it before a lesson rather than remembering in the moment. • It is a lid, not a lock. It hides what Toddle draws. It does not stop someone opening a student's profile deliberately, and it is not a substitute for your school's own safeguarding practice. Turn it on before you share, and check the switch is on. If your school has ever had the conversation about whether a teacher can put the gradebook on the board, this is the feature that ends it. GET THE DATA OUT One click exports what you are looking at as a CSV: student, assessment, assessment type, criterion or standard, the result, and submission status. The file is generated in your browser and saved by your browser. It does not pass through a server, because there is no server. Useful for moderation meetings, for a departmental spreadsheet, for a report comment bank, or for anything Toddle's own reporting does not quite cover. IT STAYS OUT OF THE WAY The extension works with Toddle's own grid rather than replacing it: • Columns are injected into the real gradebook. Scrolling, freezing, selection and clicking through to a student all keep working, and clicking a cell still opens the right student's panel. • Cell colour keeps meaning submission status, using Toddle's own colours. The result is carried by the cell text, so colour never means two things at once. • Expand everything, or one assessment at a time using the chevron on each assessment's header. Filter to summative, formative, learning experiences or worksheets. Focus on a single assessment. • If anything goes wrong, it falls back to its own table rather than breaking your gradebook. WHAT IT CAN SEE, PRECISELY Worth being able to answer, because somebody at your school will ask. • It runs only on web.toddleapp.com. It has no access to any other site, and does nothing at all anywhere else. • It reads gradebook data through Toddle's own interface, reusing the session you are already signed in with. It never sees or stores your password, and the authentication token stays in Toddle's own page — the extension's interface code cannot read it. • It writes nothing back to Toddle. Every request it makes is a read, and write operations are blocked outright rather than merely avoided. • It sends nothing anywhere. There is no server, no account, no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising and no remote code. Nothing about you, your students or your school leaves your browser. • The only thing it stores is whether you have turned the flag switch on. • It collects no personal data, so there is nothing for us to lose, sell or be compelled to hand over. WHO IT IS FOR • Teachers who assess against standards or criteria and want to see a class rather than a student. • Anyone who has ever shrunk a browser window before putting the gradebook on the board. • Heads of department and coordinators running moderation, who need the results in a spreadsheet. • Schools that want the time saving without sending student data to a third party to get it. It works with any Toddle school. There is nothing to configure, no account to create, and no setup beyond installing it. HONEST LIMITATIONS Toddle does not publish an API for this. The extension reads the same internal interface the Toddle web app itself uses, worked out from the app's own requests. That is what makes it fast — expanding an assessment costs one request, not one per student — and it is also the risk: a Toddle release can change something and break a column. When that happens the extension falls back to its own table rather than breaking the gradebook, and tells you when it could not do what you asked instead of quietly showing you less. Tell us and we will chase the change. It is a Chrome extension, so it works in Chrome and Chromium browsers. It does not work in the Toddle mobile apps.
