Overview

Summarize any YouTube video in one click. Get the key points — and whatever the title promised — without watching.

Stop watching 40 minutes to find the 4 minutes that mattered. TL;DW puts an AI summarize button on every YouTube thumbnail. Hover any video — in your feed, in search results, in the sidebar — click AI, and a structured summary slides in from the right. You never have to open the video first. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Most summarizers hand you a wall of text. TL;DW starts with the thing you actually clicked for. If a title promises "10 Steps to Become a Millionaire", TL;DW extracts those 10 steps, numbered, in the order the video gives them. If it promises a secret or a method, you get the actual answer — not a description of where the answer appears. If it asks a question, you get it answered outright. And when a video does not deliver what the title promised, TL;DW says so. If the title claims 10 things and the video covers 6, you get the 6 and a note that four never arrived. It will not pad the list to make the clickbait look honest. WHAT YOU GET Every summary is organised into sections, and each point is tagged with a priority from 1 to 5 so you can skim the important parts first: - What the title promised, answered first - Key takeaways - Calls to action - Key data and statistics - Tools and resources mentioned - Controversial or debatable points - Steelman arguments for opposing views - Suggested next steps and implementation steps Sections that do not apply to a video are simply left out. HOW TO USE IT 1. Open YouTube and hover any video thumbnail 2. Click the AI button that appears on it 3. Read the summary in the panel that slides in on the right Summaries are kept in the TL;DW panel in the top right corner, so closing one does not lose it. Reopen any summary instantly — no re-processing, no waiting. Select several with the checkboxes to clear them out in one go. You can also drag the left edge of the summary panel to make it wider, and that width is remembered. MAKE IT YOURS Open Settings from the TL;DW panel to add your own instructions — tell it to flag unsupported claims, keep every point under fifteen words, focus on the technical details, or whatever fits how you read. Those instructions apply to every summary until you change them. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No email address. TL;DW reads the transcript in your own browser and sends it to be summarized. Summaries are stored locally on your machine, not on a server. Nothing you do is sold, shared, or used for advertising. See the privacy policy for the full detail on what is sent and where. GOOD TO KNOW - Works on videos that have captions or a transcript available. Videos with captions disabled cannot be summarized. - Summary quality depends on transcript quality. Auto-generated captions on heavily accented or noisy audio will produce a weaker summary. - Long videos take longer. A three-hour podcast is a lot of text to read.
