TLDR Nano summarizes the page you are reading using your browser's built-in Summarizer API (Chrome 127+). The model runs entirely on your device. The page text never leaves the browser. Zero network. Zero accounts. Zero API keys. That is the wedge. Every cloud-AI summarizer charges per token, makes you log in, and ships your reading history to a backend you cannot audit. TLDR Nano ships none of that. The model runs in your browser's on-device runtime - no API key, no account, no telemetry, no server-side anything. If the model is not yet downloaded, the side panel tells you and offers to start the download in the background. THE HONEST TRADE-OFF The on-device Nano model has a smaller context window than cloud LLMs, so long-form is its hardest task.
