The product is built around a few simple observations about how people actually work. Big goals are difficult to act on, so Timely breaks them into smaller steps. Too many things competing for attention make it harder to decide what to do, so Timely gives today's work a clear place. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Most productivity apps give you one giant list of everything. That's not always helpful. Because "build my portfolio" isn't a task. Neither is "launch my startup", "learn Spanish", "redesign the website", or "get fit". These are projects. Timely helps you turn them into something you can actually do. Portfolio → Case Studies → Gather screenshots for case study #1 Instead of staring at "Build my portfolio" and wondering where to start, you have a clear next action. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Timely isn't built around the idea that you'll spend your entire day working on one project. Real life doesn't work that way. You might work on your job in the morning, your portfolio in the afternoon, and your side project at night. You might have five ideas you're excited about. You might switch between creative work, admin, meetings, research, and personal tasks throughout the day. Timely lets you keep multiple projects alive without letting all of them become today's problem. Choose the projects you're focusing on. Keep the rest organised. Synced with google calendar ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. Timely gives you two ways to work. Deep Focus puts your most important tasks at the top, with your Top 3 staying visible so you know what deserves your attention first. Multitasking lets you move between different projects when your day genuinely requires it, while keeping you aware of what you're doing and what's next. Timely also makes context switching visible. You may discover that you're constantly jumping between work, personal tasks, and side projects. Or you may discover that grouping similar work together makes your day much easier. Timely can help you organise work into clusters based on cognitive mode and context. Writing, designing, analysing, planning, and communicating require different kinds of thinking. So do work, personal projects, your portfolio, and your side projects. Grouping related work together can help you spend more time actually working and less time constantly changing gears. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. Not every project has an end date. Some things have a finish line. Launch my portfolio. Move house. Build the website. Other things don't. My job. My health . Learning. Maintaining my business. Timely lets you mark projects as either having a deadline or being ongoing. A deadline project has a real finish line. An ongoing project is something you're going to keep doing. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5. Your Today view brings everything together. Projects can be big. Goals can be complex. Ideas can be endless. Today shouldn't be. Timely gives you the work you've chosen to do today. Finish a task and it disappears from your Today list. If you don't finish something, you can reassign it to another day. And if you've only completed part of it, you can capture where you stopped so you can pick it up again without having to reconstruct your previous work. For example: "Finished the research. Next: compare the three options." That's enough. You don't need another planning session just to figure out where you left off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tip : A good task should be clear enough that you can actually start it. Not "work on website." "Write homepage headline." Not "do portfolio." "Select three projects for the portfolio." Not "research competitors." "Review five competitor homepages." Small enough to start. Clear enough to finish. That's what Timely means by an atomic step. Plan the work, not just the task. Tasks take time. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Recurring task: Daily exercise, weekly planning, monthly reporting, regular admin — these things shouldn't have to feel like brand-new decisions every time they appear. Timely can treat recurring work as part of a rhythm rather than scattering small interruptions throughout your day. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Psychology: Switching between different contexts has a cost, so Timely makes switching visible and creates space for transitions. Unfinished work can stay mentally active, so Timely lets you capture where you stopped. Different projects have different meanings and time horizons, so Timely separates deadline-based work from ongoing work. And because completing something should feel like completing something, finished tasks leave your Today list and give you a small moment of celebration.
