Overview

Google Drive can't unzip. Extract zips right in Drive, without downloading, folders intact. Plus bulk downloads and link sheets.

Someone sends you a zip with 500 files. Google Drive can't open it. Normally you'd download it, unzip it, rebuild the folders and upload it all again. Then you need a link for each file: Share, Copy link, Paste. Five hundred times. thefilosphere does that work for you. It's a Chrome extension for the bulk jobs Google Drive™ makes you do by hand: unzip files into Drive, get a link for every file in a folder, download whole shared folders and convert images and spreadsheets. It opens in Chrome's side panel, right next to your Drive. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ FOUR TOOLS. USE ONE, OR ALL FOUR. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Each tool works on its own. Use only the one you need. ▸ UNZIP & ORGANIZE · Zip → Drive The problem: Drive can't open a zip. You unzip it on your computer, rebuild the folders, upload everything again, and the files still come out in the wrong order. The fix: pick a zip that's already in your Drive, or drop one in from your computer, and it unpacks straight into a Drive folder. • Subfolders kept exactly as they were • Natural order, so 2 comes before 10 • See every folder and file count before anything uploads • Switch on "Then make a link sheet" and the unzipped files go straight into Link sheet • Files left from an earlier upload: skip them or keep both • Large zips pause and pick up where they stopped • One click on Undo moves the whole batch to Drive's trash ▸ LINK SHEET · Folder → links The problem: to share files you open each one, copy its link and paste it into a sheet. One wrong paste and someone gets the wrong file. The fix: a Google Sheet with a share link for every file in a folder, grouped by subfolder. • Direct image links too, for websites and stores that ask for an image URL • Copy all the links, or download them as a CSV • Folders thefilosphere uploaded: each file is set to "Anyone with the link can view", and Undo makes them private again • Any other folder: share it as "Anyone with the link" in Drive and paste its link. Its sharing isn't changed ▸ BULK DOWNLOAD · Link → files The problem: Drive zips a big folder before downloading it, splits it into several zips, and sometimes one of them fails. The fix: paste the link of a shared Drive folder and every file is saved to your computer separately, with its folders intact. No zip. • Paste several folder or file links at once, one per line • Before it starts, see what's inside: each folder's size and file count, and how much is images, video or PDFs. Untick a folder to leave it out • A dropped connection doesn't restart a big file. It carries on from where it stopped • If it stops, or you close the panel, Continue picks up where it left off and skips files already saved • A file that fails is listed by name, so you retry just that one ▸ CONVERT FORMAT · Images and spreadsheets The problem: the website, marketplace or client wants JPG, and you have WEBP, or a folder of iPhone HEIC photos the website won't take. So you upload your files to a converter site you've never heard of. The fix: pick files in Drive and convert them in bulk. • Images: WEBP, PNG and JPG, and iPhone HEIC photos to any of the three • Spreadsheets: Google Sheets, Excel and OpenDocument files to CSV, one file per tab • Converted in your browser, not on a server • Saved to a new Drive folder • Your originals are kept. Don't need them? One click moves them to Drive's trash, and Undo brings them back • Switch on "Then make a link sheet" and the converted images go straight into Link sheet ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVATE BY DESIGN ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Google asks you to allow access when you start. Here's exactly what that means: • thefilosphere can see only the files and folders you pick, and the ones it creates • It cannot see the rest of your Drive • Your files move directly between your browser and Google. They never pass through a thefilosphere server • It sends usage stats, like which screen you opened or that a run finished, with a random install ID. Never your name, email or anything from your Drive. You can turn it off in Settings • You can remove access anytime from your Google account settings ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRICING: NO SUBSCRIPTION ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Your first 10 runs are free, with every tool and any number of files. No card needed • After that, a one-time payment for a license that works on 2 devices • Every future update included • 7-day refund No monthly bill. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW TO START ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. Add thefilosphere to Chrome 2. Click the thefilosphere icon in Chrome's toolbar. It opens in the side panel 3. Sign in with Google. On Google's screen, tick the box next to Google Drive 4. Pick a tool, choose your files or folder, and run it ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ GOOD TO KNOW ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Works in Chrome and Edge on a laptop or desktop, not on phones • Link sheet works on folders thefilosphere uploaded, or folders shared as "Anyone with the link" • Bulk download works on folders shared as "Anyone with the link". Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are skipped • It works while Chrome is open. Nothing runs on a server in the background ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHY I BUILT IT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ I'm Ayan. At work, I kept doing the same Drive chores by hand: unzipping files, rebuilding folders, copying links one by one. So I built a tool to do them for me, then turned it into thefilosphere for everyone. It's just me behind it, and I read every email.
