Overview

Gysin-style permutation of tweet text with glitchy overlays.

The Third Mind applies William S. Burroughs and Brion Gysin's cut-up method to the text of tweets on X. Modes: Gysin — Steinhaus-Johnson-Trotter permutation of the opening words. Each "Advance" click moves one word one position, cycling through every possible order of the phrase. Burroughs — Interleaves the two halves of a sentence, fold-in style. Dada — Fisher-Yates shuffle of the whole tweet. Markov — Generates new text from a chain built from previously permuted tweets. How it works: The extension reads tweet text, computes a permutation, and displays the result in an overlay positioned over the original tweet. Original text is preserved; "Restore" returns the page to normal. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted. All processing happens locally in your browser.
