The Tab Economist
Overview
Intelligent tab management. Idle tabs are archived with AI summaries — searchable, private, on-device.
Tab Economist watches your open tabs. When you haven't visited a tab for a while, it automatically moves it to your Library — summarized, categorized, and searchable. FEATURES • Auto-archive — Tabs idle past your threshold (default 2 hr) are moved to your Library • AI summaries — Gemini Nano (on-device, Chrome 127+) categorizes and summarizes each page • Natural language search — "that article about M5 chips" actually finds it • Focus Mode — Pause all archiving during deep work or presentations • Duplicate detection — Visual navigator to spot and close duplicate tabs • Restore with context — Restore a full stack as a Chrome Tab Group • Export — Download your Library as Markdown or JSON • Protected domains — Add any domain to a never-archive list • Compact mode — Minimal footprint when you need the space PRIVACY All data stays on your device. No account, no sign-in, no tracking, no analytics. Sensitive sites (banking, email, medical, password managers) are automatically excluded and never touched. Uninstalling deletes everything. AI runs entirely on your device via Gemini Nano — your pages are never sent to any server. Free. No subscriptions. No catch.
