Gathered at the edge of a pond, with two individuals actively feeding on the grassy bank, these large waterfowl are identified as Ruddy Shelducks (Tadorna ferruginea). The two birds facing the foreground display the species' characteristic rich, rusty-orange to chestnut-brown plumage across their bodies, which contrasts slightly with the paler, buff-colored head and neck. The central bird, seen from the rear, displays a beautiful flash of white and grey on the secondary wing feathers, often revealed during preening or flight. Their posture—heads down, bills to the ground—indicates they are actively grazing on grass or picking up fallen seeds and invertebrates. This species, which acts as a hybrid between a goose and a duck, is commonly found across central Asia and parts of Europe and Africa, often frequenting slow-moving rivers and large water bodies.
