This large, semi-aquatic rodent is a Capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), a species native to the wetlands and forests of South America. Its coarse, shaggy brown coat is a perfect adaptation for its environment, providing both insulation and quick drying properties. The animal's stout, barrel-shaped body and webbed feet are clear indicators of its comfort both on land and in water, where it spends a significant amount of its time. The capybara's small, rounded ears and dark, almost hidden eyes are placed high on its head, allowing it to see and hear while its body remains submerged, a key survival tactic against predators. Known as a highly social animal, it is often found in groups, grazing on grass and aquatic plants along the water's edge.
