TextReads: Listen to Articles — Text to Speech (TTS) Reader
Overview
Text-to-speech for any article: listen to webpages with word highlighting, auto-scroll & natural AI voices. Free TTS reader.
TextReads is a text-to-speech (TTS) reader that turns any web article into audio, letting you listen to articles, blogs, news, and research papers, with word-by-word highlighting, a page that scrolls itself to follow along, speed control, and multiple natural-sounding AI voices. Click the extension on any article to start listening. A floating player appears and each word lights up in real time as it's spoken. The page auto-scrolls to keep the current line centered, so you can follow along hands-free. Glance away any time and tap "Back to reading" to return to your place. Why use TextReads? Reading takes focus. Listening doesn't. TextReads lets you absorb articles while commuting, exercising, doing chores, or giving your eyes a rest — on any site, without switching apps. It's also built for readers with dyslexia, ADHD, or eye strain. The synchronized word highlight keeps your place even when attention drifts, and the page scrolls itself so the line you're hearing is always front and center, with no hunting for where you left off. Features • Text to speech on any webpage: Listen to news, blogs, research papers, newsletters, and anywhere articles live • Word and sentence highlighting: Each spoken word in the active sentence lights up in the article text as you listen • Auto-scroll that follows your reading: The page scrolls itself to keep the line you're hearing centered on screen. Scroll away any time, and a tap on the "Back to reading" pill brings you right back • Listen from any sentence: Select any sentence and tap "Listen from here" to jump straight to it • Speed control: Slow down for complex content, or speed up for a quick scan. Multiple playback speeds available (0.5x to 2x) • Natural-sounding AI voices: Choose between multiple different voices, plus a free offline voice • Per-site preferences: Hide the player on sites where you don't want it to appear • Cross-tab audio exclusivity: Starting playback in a new tab automatically stops audio in any other tab Who uses TextReads • Commuters & multitaskers: catch up on reading while your hands and eyes are elsewhere. • Students & researchers: listen through papers and articles without staring at a screen for hours. • Readers with dyslexia or ADHD: the word highlight and self-scrolling page anchor your attention so you can follow along at your own pace. • Professionals: get through newsletters, reports, and long-form content without carving out dedicated reading time. TextReads is free to start with unlimited usage on the free offline voice, with option to upgrade to Pro for unlimited listening on premium voices.
