TextPic - copy text from images and screenshots

Select and copy text from images, any part of a web page, and screenshots. Text is recognized locally on your computer.

TextPic turns text in any image into real text you can select and copy — right where you see it. Right-click an image and choose “Recognize text in image”. A transparent text layer appears on top of the picture: select words with the mouse and press Ctrl+C, or copy everything with one click. WHAT YOU CAN RECOGNIZE • Images on web pages: screenshots, scans, infographics, memes • Any area of a page: press Ctrl+Shift+0 and drag a frame over a canvas, a video frame or a background • Any Chrome tab, the window of another program, or the whole screen: press Ctrl+Shift+9 • Images from the clipboard or files: paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V or drop a file PRIVATE BY DESIGN Text is recognized entirely on your computer by the Tesseract engine. Images and recognized text never leave your device. No account, no tracking. LANGUAGES More than 100 recognition languages. Choose several at once, for example English and Spanish, and TextPic reads mixed text without switching. English and Russian are built in and work offline; other languages are downloaded once, the first time you use them. ACCURACY • Small text is enlarged automatically before recognition • Two layout modes run in parallel and the better result wins, so fewer lines are missed on scans and busy backgrounds • When a page offers a higher-resolution version of an image, TextPic uses it HOW TO USE 1.
