TextEditAid

Edit (or just filter) the currently selected textarea using a web request.

This extension allows you to edit (or just filter) the contents of a TEXTAREA form element on a web page. Since Chrome does not allow the running of an external program directly, this extension instead makes an ajax call to a web server, which can start up a graphical editor (if the window manager is accessible to the called CGI), or perform some filtering you have set up. The URL that is used is configurable in the options. When a TEXTAREA receives the focus, the extension's icon can be left-clicked to initiate the web request. This will process the currently-selected element and update its value at the end of the request (e.g. when the editor exits). You can also assign a keystroke to initiate the request. A python edit-server script that I wrote for use with TextEditAid is here: http://opencoder.net/edit-server This script lets you choose the command you want to run and/or to add some python filter code into the munge_bytes() function.
