Tether – Tasks Linked to Gmail & Docs
Overview
Turn any email or doc into a task without leaving the page. Every task stays linked to where it came from.
Work is scattered across Gmail, Docs, and Drive — and the tasks buried inside them get lost the moment you switch tabs. Tether adds a small "+" button to Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive. Click it (or right-click any selected text and choose "Add to Tether") and you get a quick task with a title, an optional note, and an optional due date — automatically linked back to the email or document it came from. Open the Tether icon any time to see everything in one list. Tap a task to jump straight back to its source. Check it off when it's done. WHAT TETHER DOES - Adds a floating "+" button on Gmail, Docs, and Drive - Right-click any selected text → "Add to Tether" - Every task remembers its source — click it to reopen that email or doc - One combined task list in the extension popup - Optional daily reminder if something's due or overdue - Works completely offline, on your device WHAT TETHER DOESN'T DO - No account, no sign-in, no sync to any server - No ads, no tracking, no analytics - Nothing to configure — install and it just works - Free, with no subscription, now or ever planned Your tasks are stored locally in Chrome using chrome.storage.local and never leave your browser. Tether is built by Futile, an independent developer making small, focused browser tools — including QuickLens (instant word lookup) and Webrobe (a wardrobe for your open tabs). More at futile.in.
