Overview
Highlights English tenses in YouTube captions: a tense map of the whole video, the current line and a live tense table.
Learn English tenses from the videos you already watch. Tense Lens adds two panels to any YouTube video with English captions: • The current line, right under the video, with every verb phrase highlighted by tense: color shows the time (present, past, future) and the underline shows the aspect (simple, continuous, perfect, perfect continuous). • A tense map of the whole video: every verb is a mark on the timeline, so you can see at a glance where the speaker tells stories in the past or plans the future. Click the map to jump to that moment. • A live tense table next to the video: all 12 tenses plus "going to" and modal verbs, with counts and shares for this video. The tense you hear right now lights up. Click a cell, a column (for example, all Perfect tenses) or a row (for example, everything in the Past) to show only that tense on the map, then use Prev / Next to jump between the lines that use it. Works with manual and auto-generated English captions. Everything runs in your browser: no account, no tracking, and the captions are never sent anywhere. Tense detection is automatic and works best with punctuated captions; auto-generated captions without punctuation can make it miss some verbs.
