TemptShield puts a small, calm pause between you and your most distracting websites — so the visit becomes a choice instead of a reflex. It never blocks anything. When you open a site you've chosen to protect, you see a quiet pause screen with a short countdown. You pick why you're visiting — work, learning, communication, entertainment, music, or something else — and optionally jot down what you plan to do. Then you continue, or close the tab and come back later. Either choice is a good one. That tiny gap is often all it takes. Blockers invite workarounds; a pause invites a decision. HOW IT WORKS Add the websites you want to be intentional about (youtube.com, reddit.com, x.com — you choose). When you navigate to one, a pause screen appears with a 10-second countdown (adjustable from 3 to 120 seconds). Choose your reason for visiting, and optionally note what you're planning to do. Continue to the site, or come back later. FEATURES • Protected site list with flexible matching — whole domains cover all their subdomains, wildcards like *.reddit.com are supported, and you can protect just a section of a site, like example.com/feed. • Configurable countdown with a calm circular timer. • Intent check-in: a quick "what brings you here?" before each visit. • Optional reflection prompt: "What are you planning to do?" • Optional daily soft limit: after your chosen number of visits to a site, the pause simply doubles — nothing is ever locked away, and you get one gentle heads-up notification. • Daily statistics: pauses per site, how often you continued, total time paused, your reasons, and recent activity — kept for 30 days on your device. • Popup dashboard with today's numbers and a one-click on/off switch for when you genuinely need frictionless browsing. • Light and dark themes, following your system by default. • Fully keyboard accessible with screen-reader support. • Once you continue to a site, the same tab isn't interrupted again for a few minutes — browsing stays smooth. DESIGNED WITHOUT GUILT Most focus tools lean on shame: streaks you can break, red warning screens, lectures about wasted time. TemptShield doesn't. Visiting YouTube isn't a failure — sometimes it's exactly the right thing to do. The extension just makes sure it's you deciding, not the impulse. The language is supportive everywhere, including when you hit your own daily limit. PRIVACY — NOTHING LEAVES YOUR DEVICE • No account, no sign-up. • No data collection, no analytics, no ads. • The extension makes zero network requests. Your settings, visits, and reflections are stored locally in your browser, and you can export or erase them anytime from the settings page. • Minimal permissions: it does not read or modify the content of any web page.
