Telepathy creates synchronized watch parties for online videos in Chrome. Create an unlisted room or join with a room link. Telepathy coordinates play, pause and seek between room members while everyone watches through their own authorized access to the video. Chat, reactions, room members and playback controls remain available in Chrome’s side panel. WHAT TELEPATHY DOES • Synchronizes play, pause and seek for people in the same room • Reduces ordinary playback drift between room members • Provides live room chat, reactions and bookmarked moments • Supports YouTube and Netflix through dedicated integrations • Detects many compatible HTML5 and embedded video players • Offers optional watch-party ad skipping, which is off by default • Allows guests to join without creating an account HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a video that every participant can lawfully access. 2. Open Telepathy and create an unlisted room. 3. Share the room link or code. 4. Your friends open the invitation and confirm joining in Telepathy. 5. Play, pause and seek actions are synchronized across the room. SITE ACCESS YouTube and Netflix use dedicated player integrations. On other websites, Telepathy may ask once for optional access to all sites when you create or join a room or select Re-detect player. If you approve, Telepathy’s packaged player agent can start automatically on ordinary web pages and permitted embedded frames. You can remove this access at any time from Chrome’s extension settings. Protected Chrome pages remain unavailable. Compatibility depends on the website, player, embedded-frame configuration, DRM restrictions, network conditions and Chrome autoplay rules. Telepathy cannot guarantee compatibility with every website or video player. ROOM ACCESS Rooms are unlisted, not publicly searchable. Anyone who receives the active room link or code can join, so share it only with people you trust. Rooms end after all participants leave. PRIVACY Your video stream never passes through Telepathy. Each participant receives the video directly from the video provider. To operate a watch party, Telepathy processes the selected watch-page URL, room information, play/pause/seek signals, chat and reactions, display name, IP address and limited security metadata. If you create an account, Telepathy also processes your email address and password for authentication; only a salted password hash is stored. A random installation identifier is used to protect the optional detection service. If local player or ad detection needs optional assistance, Telepathy may send the selected page URL and a limited technical representation of the page structure to Telepathy’s service and AI. This representation excludes page text, form values and scripts, but may include technical element attributes and selected resource URLs. If approximate-location protection is enabled on the hosted service, the IP address may be sent to ipwho.is to derive an approximate country, region, city, coordinates and ISP for security and abuse prevention. This is not GPS or a precise street location. Telepathy does not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising or use it for credit decisions. Optional ad skipping is off by default and operates only on active Telepathy watch-party tabs. Each participant must have their own lawful access, subscription, rental or entitlement for the video being watched. Telepathy does not provide, redistribute or unlock video content.
