Overview

Turns any overwhelming task into one tiny first step, then nudges you until you actually start.

Staring at a task and not knowing where to begin? Task Starter breaks any overwhelming task down into one tiny first step, small enough that starting no longer feels like the hard part. Type what you need to do — "write the history essay," "reply to the landlord," "finish the tax spreadsheet" — and Task Starter hands you back a single, concrete, two-minute first move. Then it reminds you if you haven't started by the time you chose, so the task doesn't quietly slide to the bottom of your mind. HOW IT WORKS Task Starter matches what you typed against a library of task-shaped patterns (writing, reading, coding, calls, chores, studying, and more) and returns a tiny, specific opening action instead of generic advice like "just start." Everything is generated instantly on your device — no AI API calls, no server round-trip. Mark a task "started" and the reminder stops; mark it "completed" and it's done. A badge on the toolbar icon shows how many tasks are still waiting on you, and a snooze option is built into every reminder notification. FEATURES (Free) - Turn any task into one tiny, concrete first step - One-time reminder notification if you haven't started by your chosen time (15 min – 2 hours) - Track up to 3 active tasks at once - Snooze any reminder in one click FEATURES (Pro — $7 one-time) - Unlimited active tasks — no 3-task cap - Recurring nudges every 10 minutes (instead of a single one-time reminder) until you start - Reading Focus mode: a distraction-free overlay for the article you're on, with adjustable font size, line spacing, and optional bionic-text bolding to help you actually get through it once you've started - An "Up next" spotlight view that surfaces one task at a time with a live session timer and a gentle keep-going nudge right after you start - A fine-grained nudge-timing slider (11 stops, 5 minutes to 4 hours) instead of 4 fixed options WORKS EVERYWHERE Task Starter lives in your toolbar popup, so it works the same way on any site or tab. Reading Focus can be triggered on whatever article or page you currently have open — no per-site setup required. PRIVACY Your tasks, first steps, and reminder settings are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local and are never sent anywhere. If you never enter a Pro license key, the free tier makes zero network requests. The only network calls Task Starter ever makes are: (1) validating a Pro license key against Lemon Squeezy's license API, and (2) sending an optional bug report if you explicitly type one into the "Report an issue" form. See the full privacy policy for details.
