Taiwanese Romanization (Tâi-gí) Converter & IME
Overview
Bidirectional KIP (Tâi-lô) <-> POJ (Pe̍h-ōe-jī) converter and inline numeric input helper for Taiwanese.
This is a simple tool to convert Taiwanese Hokkien romanization between 教育部台語羅馬字 (KIP / Tâi-lô) and 白話字 (POJ / Pe̍h-ōe-jī). It is designed for users who are familiar with one system but need to write or read in the other. Key Features * Bidirectional Conversion: Convert KIP to POJ, or POJ to KIP. * In-Place Conversion: Highlight text inside editable text boxes on web pages and convert it directly. * Popup Conversion: Open the extension's popup window to manually type or paste text for conversion. * Simple Input Helper (IME): When active, you can type syllables with tone numbers (e.g., tai5) in text fields, and the extension will automatically format them into diacritics as you type. Compatibility Notes * "Fancy" Text Fields: On fields with advanced features (like search suggestions or emoji keyboards), in-place conversion may not work. In these cases, please use the popup window to convert. * Google Docs: Google Docs does not expose document text as standard browser input areas. To convert text in Google Docs, please copy the text into the extension's popup window, convert it there, and paste it back. Privacy * This extension runs entirely locally on your browser. * We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your data or keystrokes.
