Overview

Read the current webpage with your own AI model, summarize it, and keep asking questions in context.

TabTell turns the current webpage into context for an ongoing conversation. Open the Chrome side panel and ask a question, or begin with a quick action for summarizing, translating, drafting, or finding notable quotes. A quick action prepares only the first request. The rest of the conversation stays open-ended instead of being locked to an assistant persona. Main features: - Read the title, URL, and readable text of the current webpage. - Connect common model providers with your own API key. - Select one or more models from maintained lists for preset providers, or use a custom HTTPS or local endpoint. - See compatible answers stream as they are generated. - Render Markdown headings, lists, quotes, code, and tables. - Keep source snapshots and conversations organized by webpage. - Start a new conversation or reopen an earlier conversation for the current page. - Switch models from the composer and see an estimate of context-window usage. - Save repetitive first-turn instructions as quick actions. - Import compatible Agent Skills and select them manually or allow automatic matching. - Export and import a configuration backup to move provider and model selections, quick actions, Skills, and interface preferences between devices. - Copy page text or download source content and conversations as Markdown. Text instructions from a Skill may be included in a model request. TabTell does not execute scripts, shell commands, MCP server declarations, or platform-specific permissions found in imported packages. Third-party Skills are manual-only when first imported. Privacy and data: - TabTell explains its page access and data handling before reading a webpage for the first time. - TabTell does not operate a developer-controlled relay server or cloud account service. - API keys can be kept for the current browser session or stored in the current browser profile. - Page snapshots, settings, Skills, and page-scoped conversations stay in the current browser. - Configuration backups exclude API keys, webpage text, and conversations. Custom provider details, quick-action prompts, and Skill text may contain sensitive information, so review a backup before sharing it. - An API key is sent directly to the selected provider only when the user tests that connection or makes an AI request through it, and only for authentication. It is not sent to TabTell. - Data needed for an AI operation is sent directly to the provider selected by the user only after the user sends a question, starts a quick action, tests a connection, or takes another explicit AI action. - Automatic Skill matching may first send the question, page title, and candidate Skill names and descriptions to the same provider. - TabTell contains no ads, product analytics, or advertising trackers, and does not sell user data. Model providers process requests under their own API terms and privacy policies. Review the selected provider's terms before connecting it.
