TabTab is built for exactly this problem. It turns every open tab across every window into a single search surface you can summon anytime. Custom keyboard shortcuts are supported, and search is specifically optimized. The key difference: even after a page is closed, as long as you still remember a keyword, you can pull it back instantly. Ordinary pages you haven’t touched in a while can be closed automatically (default: after 7 days). Pinned tabs, the active tab, tabs playing audio, and Chrome’s own internal pages are never touched. Every automatic close is logged locally and fully recoverable. Everything runs locally. No network requests. No telemetry. You no longer have to choose between letting tabs keep stacking up or closing them and risking loss.
