Overview
Automatically close tabs based on URL patterns.
๐งน Tabs Cleaner automatically closes browser tabs that match URL patterns you define, keeping your browser tidy without manual effort. โฑ๏ธ AUTO-CLOSE GROUPS Create groups with URL patterns and set a delay. Patterns take wildcards, or placeholders like [int] and [word] when you need a tighter match. Tabs matching those patterns are automatically closed after the delay expires. Perfect for meeting landing pages, new tabs, and apps that leave behind stale tabs. ๐ Built-in templates for Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and Jira boards get you started instantly. ๐ DUPLICATE DETECTION See which exact URLs and domains have multiple tabs open. Close duplicates with one click (keeping the first), or close all tabs for a URL. Cycle through duplicate tabs with the folder button. Exact duplicates can also close automatically after a delay, keeping either the oldest tab or the most recently used one. Tracking parameters like utm_source are ignored when comparing URLs, so the same page linked from two places counts as one. ๐ STATS TRACKING Track how many tabs have been closed automatically and manually, both all-time and broken down by calendar month. โ๏ธ BACKUP & RESTORE Back up your group configuration and stats to Chrome Sync (tied to your Google account), or export/import everything as a JSON file to transfer between devices. โจ KEY FEATURES โ Wildcard URL pattern matching (e.g. https://example.com/*) โ Configurable delay per group โ Option to exclude the active tab from auto-close ๐ Pinned tabs, protected tabs and tabs playing audio are never closed ๐ Drag-and-drop group reordering โฉ๏ธ Undo after closing tabs ๐ Badge notification when tabs are auto-closed ๐ Dark theme UI ๐ PRIVACY Tabs Cleaner runs entirely locally. No data is sent to any server. Chrome Sync backup uses your own Google account's sync storage. โ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: Will it close the tab I'm currently looking at? A: Not by default. Each group has an "Exclude active tab" option that is on by default, so the tab you are viewing is safe. Pinned tabs are never closed. You can also protect any individual tab from the popup or the right-click menu, and tabs playing audio are left alone unless you turn that off. Q: How do URL patterns work? A: Use * as a wildcard. For example, https://meet.google.com/landing* matches any Google Meet landing page. You can have multiple patterns per group, and exclude patterns to keep tabs you are working in. For a tighter match, placeholders like [int] and [word] match only numbers or only words, so a rule can close a bare page and leave the same page with something open on it. The settings page has the full reference and a tester that shows which of your open tabs a pattern matches. Q: What happens if I accidentally close tabs? A: Hit the Undo button that appears immediately after any close action. It restores the tabs you just closed. Q: Does it send my data anywhere? A: No. Everything runs locally in your browser. The Chrome Sync backup uses your own Google account's built-in sync storage, so no third-party servers are involved. Q: Can I transfer my settings to another computer? A: Yes! Use Chrome Sync (automatic with your Google account) or export a JSON file and import it on the other machine. ๐ฌ FEEDBACK & SUPPORT Have a suggestion or found a bug?
