Chrome crashed, a profile problem wiped your session, or Chrome reopened with a blank window? TabRetain keeps a local copy of every window and tab, so you can get them back. FREE FEATURES • Auto-save: all normal windows and tabs, on a timer (every 1–30 minutes, you choose) and a few seconds after tabs change. • Lost-session recovery: about 15 seconds after Chrome starts, TabRetain checks whether your previous windows came back. This catches a crash, deleted or damaged Chrome session files, a "New Tab page" startup setting, or Chrome's own restore silently dropping tabs. If tabs are missing, the icon shows a badge and the popup offers one-click "Restore". Restore reopens only the tabs that are missing, so nothing is opened twice. • Named sessions: save a set of windows as "Thesis research" or "Trip to Lisbon". Reopen all of its windows, or just one. Named sessions are never deleted automatically. • History: 30 days of automatic snapshots (up to 60), thinned to keep everything from the last 2 hours, then hourly for 2 days, then daily. • Lazy restore: restored background tabs load only when you click them. • Export and import your sessions as a JSON file. • Switch easily: import from Session Buddy (JSON export), OneTab (exported text) and Tab Session Manager (JSON export), free. ALSO INCLUDED, FREE DURING LAUNCH • Unlimited history: snapshots are kept without the 30-day / 60-snapshot limit. • Search every tab you saved, by title or address. • Automatic backup file (daily or weekly) to Downloads/TabRetain, so your sessions survive even if the Chrome profile itself is lost. Everyone who installs during launch keeps these features for good. LIMITS, SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT • Tab groups (names and colours) are not saved; tabs are restored ungrouped. • Each tab's back/forward history is not saved, only its current page. • Chrome profiles are separate: install TabRetain in each Chrome profile you want protected. In each profile it saves all of that profile's windows. • Incognito windows are never read or saved. • file:// and chrome:// pages are saved in the list but are not reopened. • Data stays in this Chrome profile on this computer. There is no sync between devices; use export or the backup file to move it. • If the extension's own storage is damaged or the extension is removed, its saved sessions are lost too. That's what the export and backup file are for. • Restoring opens new windows next to your current ones; it doesn't replace or close anything. • Windows you close yourself are not offered again after a restart. If Chrome stops within a few seconds of you closing a window, that window may still be offered; just dismiss the banner. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No servers. No analytics.
