TabProxy — Per-Site Proxy Switcher
5 ratings
)Overview
Per-site proxy switcher. Route specific websites through your own HTTP/SOCKS5 proxies — system settings untouched.
Use a proxy only where you actually need it — for specific websites — while the rest of your browser stays on a direct connection. TabProxy is a per-site proxy switcher that gives you precise control over which traffic goes through which proxy. 💡 Think of it as a proxy per website, not a proxy for the whole browser. TabProxy lets you assign different proxies to different websites without touching your system proxy settings. Your operating system and other applications are never affected — everything happens inside your browser, and only for the sites you choose. ⚠️ Important — please read before installing: TabProxy is NOT a VPN. It does not provide proxy servers, and it does not hide or encrypt your traffic on its own. You bring your own proxies (HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5) — from a provider you trust or your own server — and TabProxy decides exactly where they apply. If you were looking for built-in or free servers, this extension is not that. --- 🔧 What you can do • Assign different proxies to different websites • Keep the rest of your browser on a direct connection • Override the proxy for any site instantly from the toolbar popup • Create multiple proxy profiles (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, SOCKS5) with names and colors • Route traffic automatically using domain rules (for example, example.com — also covers its subdomains) • Set rule priorities so the right proxy always wins • Automatically group tabs into colored tab groups by proxy profile — see which tab uses which proxy at a glance • Turn the proxy on or off for a site in one click, right from the popup • See at a glance whether a proxy is active on the current tab via the toolbar icon • Back up and restore your entire configuration as a JSON file --- 🌍 Typical use cases • Test how a website behaves from different locations or regions • Work with staging, QA, or corporate environments that require a specific proxy • Keep separate proxies for separate accounts or projects • Open a service that is only available in a specific region in one tab, while the rest of your browser stays direct • Compare content, pricing, or availability that differs from region to region • Run several proxy providers side by side and switch between them per site • Debug and inspect traffic routing without reconfiguring your whole system --- ❓ Common questions Do I need my own proxy? Yes. TabProxy does not include any servers — you connect your own HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5 proxy, from a provider you trust or your own machine. Is TabProxy a VPN? No. It routes the browser traffic you choose through the proxies you provide; it does not encrypt or anonymize traffic on its own. Does it change my system or other apps? No. It works only inside your browser, and only for the websites you choose. What happens to sites without a rule? They stay on a direct connection, at full speed — nothing is routed unless you ask for it. Where are my settings stored? Locally, in your browser. Nothing is sent to any external server. Which proxy types are supported? HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS4, and SOCKS5 proxies, with optional username and password authentication for proxies that require it. You can keep several profiles ready and switch between them at any time. Which browsers does it work in? Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers, including Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Yandex Browser. --- 🚀 Getting started First, pin TabProxy to your toolbar: click the puzzle 🧩 icon in your browser, then the pin next to TabProxy — so the proxy switcher is always one click away. 1. Add your proxy profiles (HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5) 2. Create rules for the domains you care about — like example.com 3. Open a website and adjust its proxy directly from the popup 4. Apply your changes — only that tab reloads, nothing else is disrupted Routing is handled by a standard PAC script inside your browser, so decisions are made locally and instantly, with no external service in the middle. --- 🔒 Privacy first • No tracking • No analytics • No external servers • Everything stays in your browser — your proxies, rules, and credentials never leave your device Note: because browser storage is not encrypted, proxy credentials are stored locally in plain text, and exported backups contain passwords in plain text. Keep your backup files safe. --- 👥 Who it is for • Developers and QA engineers who need precise control over traffic routing • Power users who already use proxies and want precise per-site control • Anyone who needs a clean, system-independent way to manage multiple proxies in their browser Bring your proxies, set your rules, and route only what you want — nothing more, nothing less.
