Overview

Sort and clean up tabs, or group them by task with your own AI API key.

TabLint cleans up the current browser window with one click - like a linter for your tabs: it sorts what is out of order, removes duplicates, and deletes dead tabs. FEATURES - Smart group (optional checkbox): Sort groups related tabs by task across websites and generates their names with AI. Choose an AI provider in Settings and use your own API key. - Smart summary (optional checkbox): keep website grouping but generate descriptive group names with AI. Smart group already includes AI naming, so it takes precedence. Both options use cached page excerpts. - Undo: reverse the last Sort in this window, including grouping, names, order, and cleanup. Closed pages reopen by URL; page state and back/forward history are not restored. Later manual changes are preserved. - Sort tabs by URL: unpinned tabs are sorted by website and URL ("www." and the http/https scheme are ignored, so tabs of the same site stay together), then title. Sorting runs independently inside each tab group and inside each ungrouped segment, so your groups stay intact. - Group by website (optional): when enough tabs point to the same website, they are collected into a named tab group such as "github.com". Tabs for a site that already has a group join the existing group. - Groups first (on by default): keep pinned tabs first, followed by all groups and then ungrouped tabs. Preserve the groups' relative order unless Sort groups by name is checked. Placement supports Undo. - Sort groups by name (on by default): order groups alphabetically, independently of Groups first. - Close duplicates (optional): keeps the first tab for each URL and closes later copies. Fragments (#section) and default ports are ignored when comparing. - Close merged GitHub PRs (optional): checks open GitHub pull request tabs and closes the ones whose page shows a Merged state. Open, draft, closed-unmerged, or unverifiable tabs are always left open. Works with private repositories because it reads the page already open in your browser - no API tokens needed. SAFE BY DESIGN - Pinned tabs are never moved behind other tabs and never closed. - Only the current window is touched. - Standard cleanup runs locally, with optional GitHub PR state checks. Sort with an AI option sends relevant tab titles, URLs, and page-text excerpts directly to your provider. Smart summary also reads tabs already in website groups. Chrome asks for host access as needed; unreadable pages use titles and URLs only. Browsing history is not read. - No TabLint server, analytics, or tracking. Keys default to session storage; remembering them on this device is optional. Provider API billing and data policies apply. Options are remembered between uses. Defaults: minimum 3 tabs per group, Close duplicates on, Groups first on, Sort groups by name on, and both AI options and Close merged PRs off. Saved choices take precedence. The minimum applies to website and AI grouping. The compact popup keeps Undo beside Sort, shows progress, and closes after success; errors stay visible. AI runs without opening another tab and continues if the popup is closed manually. Settings show the essentials with advanced options collapsed.
