TableSnap turns any table on any web page into a file you can actually use — CSV, Excel, JSON or Markdown — in two clicks. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ THE MERGED-CELL PROBLEM ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Most table exporters read a table row by row and ignore rowspan and colspan. The moment a table has a merged header or a grouped row label — which describes most real tables on Wikipedia, in reports, on government and finance sites — the columns shift and the export is quietly wrong. You usually notice after you've already pasted it into a spreadsheet. TableSnap resolves the table into a proper grid first. Merged cells are expanded so every row has the same number of columns and every value sits under the right header. That is the entire reason this extension exists. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHAT IT DOES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Finds every table on the page and lists them by size • Shows row and column counts so you can pick the right one • Copy straight to the clipboard, or download a file • CSV — correctly quoted and escaped, RFC 4180 • TSV — paste directly into Excel or Google Sheets • JSON — header row becomes object keys, duplicates disambiguated • Markdown — ready for GitHub, Obsidian or docs • Multi-row headers are merged into sensible column names • Hidden sort keys and screen-reader-only text are left out • Icon-only cells fall back to their alt text ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SAFE BY DEFAULT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ A cell starting with =, +, - or @ is treated as a formula by Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice. Exporting scraped web content straight into a spreadsheet is a well-known way to get a formula executed on your machine. TableSnap neutralises those cells by default, so the text is stored as text. TableSnap has no backend of any kind. • No account, no sign-up, no licence key. • No analytics, telemetry, tracking or ads. • No data collection whatsoever. • No third-party libraries and no remote code. It requests no access to websites at all. It uses "activeTab", which means it can only read the page you are looking at, only after you click the toolbar icon, and only that once.
