NewTab replaces the default browser new tab with a clean, minimal screen focused on visual clarity. Instead of showing feeds or distracting widgets, it displays a customizable digital clock and a background chosen by the user. This makes opening a new tab feel calm and intentional, especially for users who open many tabs throughout the day. Users can customize the clock by changing its position, size, and color. Any image or video file (such as PNG, JPEG, or MP4) can be used as the background. A blur option helps keep the clock readable while maintaining a soft visual atmosphere. NewTab also includes a settings panel where users can adjust visual preferences such as background media, blur intensity, and clock appearance. These options allow users to fine-tune the look of the new tab without adding extra widgets or clutter.A focus mode option is available that hides the wallpaper and displays a plain dark background to reduce visual distractions. NewTab includes a simple search overlay for convenience. By default, typing in a new tab focuses the browser’s address bar as usual. When the user clicks anywhere on the page and starts typing, a minimal search overlay appears and redirects queries to the browser’s default search engine. The search overlay displays only recent searches made within the overlay itself, which are stored locally on the user’s device. It does not provide autocomplete or external suggestions and does not fetch data from external APIs. All settings and media are stored locally on the user’s device. The extension does not collect data, track activity, or make external network requests. NewTab is designed for users who want a visually calm and minimal new tab experience without changing how their browser normally works.
