Overview

Keyboard shortcuts for tabs and GitHub: duplicate, pin, new-tab-here, prevent close, collapse i18n, absolute time. No network.

Tab Shortcuts adds missing keyboard shortcuts and productivity features to Chrome. FEATURES Pin Tab Toggles the pinned state of the current tab. Default shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+P (Mac: Control+Shift+P) Duplicate Tab Creates a copy of the current tab. Default shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+D (Mac: Control+Shift+D) New Tab Here Opens a new tab immediately after the current one and links it as the opener — closing the new tab returns focus to the original tab you were on. Configure your own shortcut via chrome://extensions/shortcuts. New Tab Here (Background) Same as New Tab Here, but the new tab opens in the background without stealing focus from what you're reading. Configure your own shortcut via chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Prevent Tab Close Prevents the current tab from being accidentally closed. Toggle it on, and Chrome will ask for confirmation before closing the tab. Configure your own shortcut via chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Collapse Translation Files (GitHub) On GitHub Pull Request pages, collapses all translation files (e.g. en.json, de.json) so you can focus on the actual code changes. Configure your own shortcut via chrome://extensions/shortcuts. Convert Relative Time (GitHub) On any GitHub page, converts relative timestamps like "2 hours ago" into absolute format like "10 September 2025, 10:15". Configure your own shortcut via chrome://extensions/shortcuts. HOW TO USE All features are accessible via: – Keyboard shortcuts (configurable at chrome://extensions/shortcuts) – The extension popup (click the extension icon) On first install, if Chrome can't bind the default shortcuts (typically because another installed extension already claims the same chord), the shortcuts page opens automatically so you can assign your own. WORKS WELL WITH DEFAULT CHROME SHORTCUTS – Next tab: Ctrl+Tab – Previous tab: Ctrl+Shift+Tab – New tab: Ctrl+T (Mac: Cmd+T) – Close tab: Ctrl+W (Mac: Cmd+W) – Switch to nth tab: Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 PRIVACY This extension operates entirely locally. No data is collected, stored, or transmitted. No analytics, no tracking, no network requests. See the full privacy policy linked on this page.
