A must have extension. It improve drastically my productivity as Digital Project manager and developper. It would be very nice if Pined tabs would not update the icon or if we can set a customized icon eg to keep pined tab with the app icon. Eg. with Notion the icon is updated with the icon page instead of keeping Notion icon which is a bit confusing. BTW a great improvement would be to add in pined part aliases to applications (Docker, Terminal…) which will make Chrome like MAC dock. Thanks ... Show more

Great tab manager, especially handy is that you can select multiple tabs from the sidebar to close, put to sleep, and many other options. Also works across different windows

So, so close to perfect. Please support easy creation of new tab groups - ideally, dragging and dropping a tab on top of another ungrouped tab would create a new tab group (similar to microsoft edge). Otherwise, a really well made extension!

Trying out several vertical tab managers -- selecting this one, mainly because it has good functionality to open a lot of tabs and forget about the native horizontal tabs across the top (which becomes basically useless when I have a lot of open tabs). Pin, reload, mute and duplicate are particularly important. One fairly simple request to make it even better for that purpose -- an optional "compact" mode: pinned tabs are twice as close together (that is, reduce the white space between icons... Show more

Hi David, I'm glad your choosing Tab Shelf! And thanks for your feedback. I'll be adding the reduced-space compact pinned tab option to my to-do list for the next release. As for eliminating the tab URLs, it's already possible to hide them. You can go to Settings -> Appearance -> and check 'Hide tab URLs'. As for tabs not staying asleep, I can only think of the case where you might have had to restart the browser due to an update, or restoring a previous session which causes tabs to lose their sleep status (if it's something else, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via email at csiew.dev@gmail.com). I'll look into adding a 'Wake tab' option in place of greying out the sleep option for tabs that are already asleep.

I like it. But one thing that could REALLY improve my workflow would be to allow it to popout of the window so I can put it where i would like to (IE, left side of the screen. Reason for this, is sometimes I'll have other "profiles" created and I can't quickly jump between windows. Another potential improvement is on how it handles popups. I run a softphone that has to be popped up. And once in a while, I click on a tab that unfortunately share the same domain name, it auto-filters to that ... Show more

Hi Alvin, I'd love to follow up on this to hear more or see what this looks like (you can contact me at csiew.dev@gmail.com). Otherwise, I'll see if I could replicate this based on the description and fix the issue if I could figure it out.

Latest update required too many dangerous permissions. This is unacceptable without open source
Clarence SiewDeveloperJul 1, 2024
PLEASE READ: TL;DR - The dangerous permissions were removed in v2024.3.2. I do not intend on using the 'identity' and 'clipboard' permissions in future versions. A permissions "nutrition sheet" has been added to Tab Shelf's privacy policy to better inform users of how Tab Shelf uses its permissions: https://www.tabshelf.com/privacy-policy I have also written a blog post detailing how permissions were used in v2024.3.0, and how it had since been reversed: https://www.tabshelf.com/blog/responsible-permissions-usage --- Hi M9VK, thanks for your feedback. I'll be taking it into consideration immediately for a quick follow-up update to rollback most of the new permissions. EDIT: Tab Shelf is merely just checking if you're logged-in in order to enable or disable syncing. In v2024.3.1, I'll be removing BOTH the clipboard and identity permissions. EDIT (1 Jul, 8:22PM AEST): version 2024.3.0 has been rolled back to version 2024.2.2 (which will appear as version 2024.3.1 for whoever's browser has updated the extension). Version 2024.3.2 will restore the new features whilst removing the need for clipboard and identity permissions. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. EDIT (1 Jul, 8:38PM AEST): version 2024.3.2 is now in review and should be available (with only the bookmarks permission as the only new permission) in within the next 24-48 hours. EDIT (2 Jul): version 2024.3.2 is rolling out now. Please note that the additional permissions mentioned in the review have been removed. There will no longer be a reliance on the identity and clipboard permissions. EDIT (3 Jul): please see my blog post explaining in full detail what was going on with Tab Shelf's permissions and how I will better communicate permissions usage moving forward - https://www.tabshelf.com/blog/responsible-permissions-usage

this is the best one I have seen so far and it has room to be even better

Truly superb, and it gets better all the time with frequent updates.

Works really well, but I would really like a feature to hide tab groups that are not being used.
Clarence SiewDeveloperJul 1, 2024
Hi Joel, apologies for the late reply, it's been a busy month! I'd like to know what you mean by tab groups that are not being used. Would that be inactive tab groups? In the meantime, do note that you can collapse/hide tab groups by clicking on the tab group name.

It's perfect. Minimal yet feature-packed. It's everything I wanted really. Brilliant job.
