Tab Resurrection - Smart Tab Hibernator
Overview
Hibernate tabs to free memory and automatically resurrect them days or weeks later. Never lose track of your work again.
Here's the idea in practice: you have 47 tabs open across 6 different projects. Instead of keeping them all loaded (slowing down Chrome), you hibernate the ones you don't need today. They close instantly — RAM freed. But they're scheduled to automatically resurrect on Monday at 9 AM, or Wednesday afternoon, or two weeks from now. When they come back, you get a notification and the tab opens exactly where you left off. +++++++++++++++++++++++ Ever left dozens of tabs open for weeks, afraid you’d forget what was in them? Same here. Tab Resurrection is the extension I wish I’d had years ago. Instead of closing tabs, it hibernates them. Your pages are safely saved on your computer, and when you need them back — tomorrow, next week, or next month — they resurrect exactly where you left off. No lost context. No forgotten research. No guilt. Built with care by Dener Silva for anyone who treats their browser like a second brain. ++++++++++++++++++++ Quick Start — Just 3 Steps: Install the extension — it appears as a moon + tab icon in your toolbar. Hibernate any tab by clicking the icon and selecting “Hibernate This Tab.” Resurrect later via the popup — your tabs wake up right where you stopped. ++++++++++++++++++++ Two ways to hibernate a tab: • Toolbar icon: Click the Tab Resurrection moon icon in your toolbar, then “Hibernate Current Tab.” The tab closes instantly and is safely stored. • Right‑click menu: Right‑click any tab, select “Hibernate Tab,” and choose a preset (Tomorrow, 3 Days, 1 Week…) or set a custom date. How to restore (resurrect) tabs: • Click the moon icon in your toolbar to open the popup. • See your list of hibernated tabs with original titles and URLs. • Click “Resurrect Now” next to any tab, or “Resurrect All” to wake every hibernated tab at once. +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Auto‑Resurrection — Set it and forget it: Want maximum convenience? In the popup, open Settings (gear icon) and enable “Auto‑resurrect after…” Set your preferred time — 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, or a custom date — and your tabs will reopen automatically when the timer expires. Tips for the best experience: • Pin the extension icon to your toolbar for one‑click access. • Give tabs descriptive titles before hibernating — makes them easier to find later. • Set auto‑resurrection for “tomorrow morning” on work tabs to create a clean shutdown ritual. • Hibernate, don’t close, research rabbit holes — no more bookmark clutter. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Frequently Asked Questions: Will I lose my hibernated tabs if I restart Chrome? No. Hibernated tabs are stored securely in the extension’s local storage and survive browser restarts, crashes, and updates. Does my data leave my computer? Never. Everything stays 100% local. No cloud, no tracking, no analytics. Can I hibernate hundreds of tabs? Yes. The storage is designed to handle large collections efficiently. What happens if I uninstall the extension? Your hibernated tabs will be lost. Please resurrect any important tabs before uninstalling. Support the Project This extension is free and always will be. If it’s saved your sanity (or your RAM), a small tip helps me keep improving it and building new features — but no pressure. Your gratitude is already enough.
