Meetings are long enough. Recording one should take a single click. Tab Recorder saves what happens in a tab as a video file, right on your own computer. No account to make. No AI notetaker sliding into your call like someone nobody invited. Nothing uploaded anywhere, unless you ask for it. THE MUTE THING (my favorite part) Mute yourself in Google Meet and your mic drops out of the recording. Unmute and it comes straight back. So the quiet bits stay quiet, and nobody has to hear you sigh, crunch a snack, or talk to your cat. Most recorders just keep listening. This one takes the hint. There is a manual mic switch too, for when you want the last word on it. PUT YOUR FACE ON IT Switch on Video and your camera appears in a neat little circle on the page. Pick your corner: top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right. Move it whenever you like, even in the middle of recording. Changed your mind? Switch it off and it is gone. NEVER LOSE THE STOP BUTTON AGAIN While you record, a small bar sits on the page with a timer and a Stop button. No digging through tabs. No squinting at the clock wondering if it is still going. It is right there, the whole time. And if your microphone is not allowed yet, it says so before you record, not after. Nobody should reach the end of an hour long call and find out their voice was never there. EVERYTHING ELSE - Records any tab, not just meetings. Demos, bug reports, that tutorial you keep re-watching. - A Record button right inside your Google Meet call, so you can skip the toolbar. - A tidy list on your computer where you can play, rename, download and delete. - Keeps rolling when you switch tabs, minimize, or cover the window. - You still hear the meeting while it records. - Long calls are no problem. It writes as it goes, so it will not eat your memory. - Optional: start recording by itself when you join a meeting. - Optional: back up to your own Google Drive. ABOUT THAT DRIVE BACKUP It stays off until you switch it on and sign in yourself. It asks for the smallest permission Google offers (drive.file), which means it can only touch files it made. It cannot read anything else in your Drive. Your copy on your computer is always kept, so a failed upload can never lose a recording. And your recordings never come to me. PRIVACY, IN PLAIN WORDS - No analytics, no tracking, no ads. None of it. - With Drive backup off, which is how it starts, it makes no network calls at all. - Your camera and microphone only ever go into the file on your computer. - On Google Meet it reads the page only to follow your mute button. On any other site it just adds the timer and Stop bar to the one tab you chose to record, and only while it records. Nothing else.
