Tab Mix Meters is a real-time browser audio analyzer for Chrome, designed for musicians, producers, video creators, podcasters, students, and anyone who wants to see and understand the audio playing in the browser. Analyze audio from a Chrome tab or another user-selected audio source using spectrum, spectrogram, waveform, loudness, stereo, low-frequency, tempo, and other real-time meters. All audio analysis is performed locally inside the browser. Audio is never uploaded, recorded, stored, or sent to a server. MAIN FEATURES Spectrum View the frequency balance from 20 Hz to 20 kHz on a logarithmic spectrum display. Quickly inspect bass, mids, highs, dominant frequencies, and overall tonal balance. Spectrogram See how frequency energy changes over time, with the newest audio appearing on the right. Graph Inspector In Advanced Mode, hover over supported graphs to inspect precise point values. For example, the Spectrum can display the frequency and level at a specific point, making the graphs useful not only for visualization but also for closer measurement and inspection. Piano Frequency View frequency energy aligned with piano-key positions across approximately C1–C8. This is a frequency visualization tool and is not an automatic note-detection, MIDI, or transcription system. Waveform / Oscilloscope Inspect the audio waveform in the time domain. Switch between Stereo, Left, Right, and Mono views. Loudness / LUFS Monitor browser-side estimates including: Peak RMS Momentary LUFS Integrated LUFS Overall LUFS These values are estimates intended for convenient visual analysis and are not certified broadcast loudness measurements. Stereo Analysis View stereo correlation and a vectorscope to observe stereo width, phase behavior, and mono compatibility. Mid / Side Compare Mid and Side energy to better understand centered audio versus stereo information. Tonal Balance View energy across broad tonal regions such as Sub, Low, Mid, Presence, and Air. Low-End Focus Inspect the 20–300 Hz range in greater detail, including rumble, sub bass, body, and mud regions. Clipping / Peak Risk Display approximate clipping and peak-risk information to help identify audio that may be excessively loud or distorted. Tempo / BPM Estimate BPM from rhythmic audio. Tempo estimation works best with music containing a clear and steady beat. A Reset Tempo button allows the current tempo analysis history to be cleared when changing songs, so a new BPM estimate can begin from fresh audio. BPM is an estimate and may be inaccurate. It should not be used as a reference measurement. 60-Second History View approximately the last 60 seconds of loudness, peak, bass, and stereo-width movement. SIMPLE MODE Simple Mode provides a compact set of useful meters without overwhelming the interface: Volume Sound Color — Bass / Mid / Treble Spectrum Tempo with Reset Spectrogram Bass Note estimate Simple Mode is designed for quick everyday audio visualization while still providing real spectrum and spectrogram displays. ADVANCED MODE Advanced Mode provides the complete Tab Mix Meters analysis system, including: Spectrum Spectrogram Piano Frequency Waveform / Oscilloscope Loudness / LUFS Stereo Mid / Side Tonal Balance Low-End Focus Clipping / Peak Risk Tempo 60-Second History Advanced Mode also includes: Graph Inspector BPM confidence information System CPU monitoring Analyzer Load estimation Additional analysis and display controls PERFORMANCE CONTROLS Individual meters can be turned on or off. When a meter is turned off, Tab Mix Meters stops the associated sampling, calculation, and rendering work whenever possible instead of continuing to process that meter invisibly in the background. This allows users to keep only the analysis tools they currently need active and can reduce unnecessary processing load. SYSTEM CPU AND ANALYZER LOAD Advanced Mode can display two separate performance indicators: System CPU Shows approximate device-wide CPU utilization using Chrome's system CPU information. Analyzer Load Estimates the main-thread processing workload generated by Tab Mix Meters itself. These values help users understand the performance impact of running multiple real-time audio meters and decide which meters to enable or disable. Analyzer Load is an internal estimate and should not be interpreted as an operating-system process CPU measurement. MULTILINGUAL INTERFACE Tab Mix Meters supports: English Chinese French Japanese Korean English is the default language. PRIVACY Tab Mix Meters performs audio analysis locally inside the browser. The extension does not: Upload audio Record audio files Store captured audio Collect browsing history Collect account information Collect personal identity information Send audio-analysis data to a server Audio capture begins only after the user actively selects an audio source through Chrome's permission interface. NOTES LUFS, True Peak / Peak Risk, Tempo, Bass Note, and related analysis values are browser-side estimates. Tab Mix Meters is not a certified broadcast loudness meter. Tempo estimation may be inaccurate and should not be used as a reference measurement. Piano Frequency displays frequency energy aligned with piano-key positions; it does not confirm detected musical notes. Tab Mix Meters is not an audio-to-MIDI or automatic transcription tool. For lower processing load, users can disable meters they do not currently need.
