Tab Grouper

Tidies a messy window by grouping your loose tabs by website. Never pulls a tab out of a group you made yourself.

Tab Grouper turns a window full of scattered tabs into a tidy set of colour-coded groups, organised by website. WHAT IT DOES • Groups loose tabs by site. Every ungrouped tab is bucketed by its domain, so mail.google.com and docs.google.com both land in a group called "Google", with a colour that stays the same for that site every time. • Leaves your own groups alone. This is the important one. If a tab already belongs to a group, Tab Grouper will never pull it out, rename it, or re-file it — no matter which site it is on. Groups you build by hand always win. • Works automatically, or on demand. New tabs are folded into the right group about a second after they load. Prefer to stay in control? Switch automatic mode off and group with a single click, or press Alt+Shift+G. • Collapses what you are not using. Optionally keeps only the group holding your active tab expanded, so the tab strip stays readable. • Sets a sensible threshold. A site needs at least two loose tabs before a brand-new group is created, so one-off tabs stay loose. If a group for that site already exists, a single tab will happily join it. You can raise the threshold in the popup. • Never touches pinned tabs. PRIVACY No accounts, no servers, no tracking. Tab Grouper makes no network requests at all. It reads tab URLs only to decide which group a tab belongs in, and stores nothing beyond your three preferences. Uses Chrome's own native tab groups — nothing proprietary, so uninstalling leaves your browser exactly as it was.
