But here is exactly what Tab EQ can and cannot do: - ✅ It receives the **audio** of a tab **only after you click "Enable EQ"** on that tab. - ❌ It **cannot** read the page's text, forms, passwords, cookies, or history. - ❌ It requests **no** website host permissions and adds **no** background page access. - ℹ️ On YouTube it reads the **channel name** of the active tab (via `activeTab`+`scripting`, no warning, no network) so it can remember your EQ per channel - nothing else on the page is used or stored. We deliberately chose tab capture over the "content script" approach that some equalizers use. Content scripts show a friendlier install prompt but actually get **full read/write access to every page** and break on many sites. Tab capture is the genuinely more private and more reliable design.
