Tab Deduplicator
Overview
Remove duplicate tabs across windows, within a window, or honoring tab groups.
**Tab Deduplicator** — Keep your browser clean and fast by removing duplicate tabs in one click. ## Three Deduplication Modes - **All Windows** — Scans every open Chrome window and removes duplicates globally. - **Current Window** — Closes duplicates only within the window you're using right now. - **Honor Tab Groups** — The smart mode: deduplicates *within* each tab group separately. A tab in Group A and the same URL in Group B are **not** considered duplicates. Ungrouped tabs form their own bucket. Perfect if you use tab groups to organise research, projects, or contexts. ## Smart Options - **Keep pinned tabs** — Pinned tabs are never closed, even if duplicated. - **Keep active tab** — The tab you're currently viewing is always kept. - **Ignore URL fragment (#)** — Optionally treat `page.com#intro` and `page.com#setup` as the same URL. ## How it works 1. Click the extension icon 2. Choose your deduplication mode 3. Set your options 4. Hit **Remove Duplicates** — done in milliseconds ## Privacy Tab Deduplicator runs entirely in your browser. It reads tab URLs only to compare them — no data is collected, transmitted, or stored externally. Preferences are saved locally via Chrome's sync storage. ## Technical - Manifest V3 (modern, compliant, no background pages) - Uses `tabs`, `tabGroups`, and `storage` permissions only - Works with Chrome 114+
