Unfortunately since v4 i need to learn 2 new shortcuts to have the same functions a i had before.
Hans MeyerDeveloperOct 11, 2024
This was changed for good reason. Having to repeat a shortcut multiple times was found to be awkward, error-prone, and inefficient. This is especially so given that the new tab range introduced in v4 raises the number of potential key repetitions to 4, which doesn't seem especially aligned with the efficiency that keyboard shortcuts are expected to deliver. We trust that once you've set up your shortcuts just the way you like them and have used them a few times, you'll find this to be much more efficient and intuitive than the old repetition-based method.

The extension works well on Windows, but on my Mac, when I click the Chrome address bar to copy a URL, it always copies formatted text instead. This is frustrating and there's no option to disable it.
Hans MeyerDeveloperOct 11, 2024
If you always want to copy just the URL, make sure you're using the "URL" format in both cases instead of "Link". "Link" will paste as a clickable link when pasting into documents, spreadsheets, emails, etc and as a URL in simpler apps like text editors. This could account for the difference in behavior you're seeing. The "URL" format will paste as URL regardless of where you're pasting.

I understand that you hope to provide more features to meet the needs of advanced users. But it is difficult to regain the original experience of simple mode in the current version. Many people in the comments have also expressed the same issue, hoping that the author can carefully consider how to better meet the needs of different users. For now, I will give three stars and if there are improvements in future updates, I will modify my rating. Best wishes 😊

Why downgrade the add-on ? The original function is so good, only need to click once to copy the tabs. But now, users have to click twice to get the same result!!!

We understand this change might take a bit of adjustment and apologize for the impact on your workflow. We didn't make this change lightly. Check out the v4 release notes for details about why simple mode was retired: https://tabcopy.com/releases/4-0-0/ Note that the new version actually introduces MORE options for power users. We urge you to take a minute to review the usage docs: https://tabcopy.com/docs/

funtion [t] or TAB not working in this new version.

We've received a couple of messages about tab-delimited values not being placed into cells accordingly when pasting copied tabs into spreadsheets. Here's an explanation of why that use case was affected and how to adapt your workflow: Tab Copy now copies custom formats to the clipboard in 2 separate variants: plaintext and rich-text (see "Format variants" at https://tabcopy.com/docs). In v3, only the plaintext variant was written to the clipboard. The target application automatically selects the variant from clipboard content when pasting. This commonly ends up being the rich-text variant when available, which fails to spread tab-delimited values into cells. Your spreadsheet app likely gives you the option to apply a desired variant in cases when the default is not suitable. In Excel, for example, you can "Paste special" as Text. This will place tab-delimited values into cells accordingly. Many apps support the Shift+Ctrl+V keyboard shortcut to paste as text (or Shift+Cmd+V if you're on a Mac). Using that shortcut instead of Ctrl+V solves the problem.

Where is the simple mode?

I miss the previous keyboard shortcut that triggers the copy based on how many times you press the shortcut key: - Single shortcut press: Copy the current or selected tabs - Double shortcut presses: Copy the current window's tabs - Triple shortcut presses: Copy all tabs With v4 and above, we will need to allocate different shortcuts to each of the copy operations to achieve what we could do up to v3. I am curious about what the justification is for this keyboard shortcut change.

The multi-tap shortcut had some problems. There's an explanation in the release notes: https://tabcopy.com/releases/4-0-0/

Please add the number of tabs again; it was a very useful feature that I really miss.
Hans MeyerDeveloperOct 8, 2024
We plan to add tab count badges as an option in a future release.

No, please don't update it. Please don't create any new features that people didn't request it! Why don't you learn from many apps that suddenly died because the developer trying to impress people with features that people don't ask for? We already get used with single click to copy url, but now it requires multiple click and need to choose the format and you removed the single click feature. You just ruined our behaviour. Thank you!
Hans MeyerDeveloperOct 7, 2024
Respectfully, your review makes a few false assumptions. For one, users regularly ask for more features. I can't speak for everyone, but a more generous take on why a developer might choose to evolve their app could be that they're responding to demand. Additionally, your point about needing to choose the format is not accurate. Tab Copy v4 has the notion of a default format, same as v3. As for retiring simple mode, we regret that this disrupts some folks' workflows. It's not a decision we made lightly. For more details about our reasoning, please see the v4 release notes: https://tabcopy.com/releases/4-0-0/

Awesome App! Strongly suggested for those who have the need to have many windows opened at once!
