Anchor your tabs to keep them safe: if an anchored tab is closed, it comes back automatically at the same position and URL.

Your browser has one home page. Tab Anchor gives every tab its own — and the "go home" gesture is simply closing the tab. An anchored tab always stays the page it was. Navigate deep into a site, or close the tab by accident: either way the result is the same. It reopens at the point where you dropped the anchor. Getting back to your starting point and recovering from an accidental close are the same single action. Anchor the home page of a site you use often. From there, search around and dig as deep as you like. When you want to start over from the beginning, just close the tab. It reopens on the spot, showing the page you anchored. ■ Where it helps • Browsing a video site's recommendation list, opening one video after another • Comparing products one by one from a filtered search result page • Reading through documentation from its table of contents In all of these, "take me back to where I started" comes up again and again. The back button needs one press per hop, and a site's logo will not take you back to a URL that carries your search terms and filters. With an anchor it is one action, however deep you have gone. ■ Anchor only the tab you start from This extension does not compete with opening links in new tabs — the two work well together. Anchor just the tab you branch out from, such as a search result, a listing page or a dashboard, and open as many new tabs from it as you like. That starting tab always comes back to where it was, whether you navigated away in it or closed it by mistake. Instead, the moment an anchored tab is closed, this extension reopens it at the same position with the URL you anchored. • Reopening reloads the page, so unsaved form input, scroll position, and the tab's back/forward history are not preserved. • On privileged pages such as the browser's settings (chrome:// / edge://), only the ⚓ title marker cannot be added due to browser security restrictions (anchoring, restoring, and the toolbar icon work normally). • Anchoring/unanchoring sleeping (unloaded) tabs takes effect instantly, but the ⚓ title marker updates once the tab is loaded. ■ Recommended browser setting To restore anchors automatically after a browser restart, we recommend setting your browser to reopen previous tabs on startup: • Edge: Settings → "Start, home, and new tabs" → "Open tabs from the previous session" • Chrome: Settings → "On startup" → "Continue where you left off" (With other startup settings, anchors are still remembered and re-attach automatically the next time you open the anchored page.) ■ Privacy No data collection, no tracking, no network transmission. Anchored URLs are stored only on your device.
