Overview
A synced text pad shared across browsers via GitHub Gist.
Keep a text pad in sync across all your browsers and machines — without signing up for anything new. Synced Scratchpad stores your text in a private GitHub Gist that you create and own. The extension reads and writes it directly via the GitHub API. There is no middleman, no subscription, and no data collected by us. HOW IT WORKS - Open the popup → your pad loads instantly from a local cache, then refreshes from GitHub. - Type anything → it saves automatically 500 ms after your last keystroke. - Open the popup on another machine → it fetches the same Gist and shows the latest content. SETUP (takes about 5 minutes) 1. Create a secret Gist at gist.github.com — filename must be scratchpad.txt 2. Generate a GitHub Personal Access Token with the "gist" scope only 3. Click the extension icon, enter your token and Gist ID, and click Connect 4. Repeat step 3 on each machine using the same token and Gist ID Full step-by-step instructions are linked in the support URL. PRIVACY Your text lives in your GitHub Gist, under your account. Your token is stored locally on your device only — never sent to us or anyone else. We operate no servers and collect no data. See the privacy policy for the complete statement. WORKS IN - Google Chrome - Any Chromium-based browser that supports Manifest V3 extensions PERMISSIONS USED - storage — saves your credentials and a content cache locally on your device - api.github.com — the only external host the extension contacts
