Overview
Advanced reading assistant with optimized Chrome MV3 support.
Syllable Reader helps you practice reading by breaking down text into manageable parts. ✨ Features Highlight text word by word or syllable by syllable. Adjustable speech speed and repeat options. Toolbar controls: Read, Pause, Resume, Stop, Mode switch. Works on any webpage. 🔒 Privacy This extension does not collect or transmit personal data. All processing happens locally in your browser. Toolbar Refinement from Beta version: Read x1/x2/x3: These buttons are removed from the toolbar entirely. The default reading rate is fixed at 1.0. Syllable Button: Defaults to "Syllables On" with a highlighted (active) green state. Clicking it toggles to "Syllables Off" with a standard blue background. Read Modes: Defaults to "Read All" in an active (green) state. Clicking a word in this mode starts a continuous reading sequence. "Read Word" can be selected to read only the specific word clicked. Pause/Resume: The separate "Resume" button is removed. The "Pause" button now dynamically toggles its text to "Resume" when clicked during "Read All" mode, and back to "Pause" when reading continues. Accuracy Update Strategy: To have a "Remote Dictionary Fetch" pattern. This allows the developer to host a JSON file (e.g., on GitHub Gist) that the extension downloads and merges with its local exceptions list, ensuring immediate accuracy improvements without code changes.
