Switchback turns what you do in the browser into a step-by-step guide. Press Start, do the task once, press Stop. You get one written instruction and one annotated screenshot for every click, entry, and choice, ready to edit and export. Use it for standard operating procedures (SOPs), how-to guides, training material, onboarding docs, and support articles. HOW IT WORKS • Record: press Start, work as normal, press Stop. Clicks, typing, selections, and page changes become numbered steps. • Edit: rewrite any step, drag steps into a new order, group them into sections, and add notes. Move or remove highlights and draw redaction boxes on any screenshot. • Export: download as Word (.docx), PDF, or Markdown (a .zip with images). BUILT FOR SOPs • Add a purpose, scope, prerequisites, owner, version, and review date. • Instructions are written for you from what you clicked, like: Click "Issue refund". PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Nothing leaves your computer. No account, no server, no analytics. Switchback makes no network requests, and every release is checked for code that could send data. • Site access only while recording: Chrome asks the first time you press Start, and access is removed when you press Stop. • Email addresses, phone numbers, and sensitive fields are marked for redaction automatically. Redactions are painted into every export, not layered on top. • Password-manager pop-ups are hidden while screenshots are taken. • Typed text is recorded only if you opt in. Passwords and sensitive fields never are. • Mark sites such as your bank or HR system as protected, and Switchback never records them. • Never runs in incognito. Free. Works offline.
