SVG to DXF Converter is built for makers, designers, engineers, CNC operators, laser-cutting workflows, and anyone who needs clean vector geometry in a CAD-friendly format without sending the source file to a server. The workflow is simple and stays visible from start to finish: 1. Choose one SVG file or drop it into the Chrome side panel. 2. Check the physical dimensions detected from the SVG. 3. Review the converted geometry and diagnostics. 4. Download the resulting DXF file when the report is ready. Scale matters when artwork moves from a screen into a physical process. The extension shows where the dimensions came from and helps you catch missing or ambiguous scale before downloading. You can keep the SVG scale, provide a known artwork dimension, or select the axis that should define the final size. The other axis keeps the original aspect ratio. You can work with the units used by your design and fabrication workflow: • Millimeters for common metric CAD, CNC, and laser-cutting projects. • Inches for imperial workflows and shop documentation. • A chosen artwork dimension when the source SVG does not contain reliable physical size information. The preview is designed to answer a practical question: what geometry will be exported? Inspect the result before opening it in another application, then review the conversion report for warnings, blocked features, open contours, and other conditions that may affect cutting or downstream editing. The extension keeps the exported geometry and the diagnostic explanation together in the same panel. Use the available controls to match the output to your process: ➤ Set a different artwork size while preserving proportions. ➤ Move the drawing to the origin when your workflow needs a predictable starting point. ➤ Choose curve-quality settings when you need to balance detail and file size. ➤ Review closed-profile preflight information before sending geometry to a cutting workflow. The converter is intentionally cautious with SVG features that cannot be represented safely in DXF. When a file contains unsupported or ambiguous content, the report explains why conversion stopped or which conditions need attention. This gives you a clear next step instead of silently producing geometry that may be incomplete or physically unsafe. Conversion happens locally inside the extension using a packaged WebAssembly geometry engine. Your drawing stays in the browser process while it is read, analyzed, previewed, and converted. The extension does not upload your SVG, filename, dimensions, geometry, diagnostics, or DXF output to svgtodxf.app or an analytics service. 🔒 The extension does not require an internet connection for conversion. You can use it in a workshop, studio, classroom, office, or other environment where files must remain on the local machine: 1️⃣ No account is required to convert a file. 2️⃣ No cloud storage is used for SVG or DXF data. 3️⃣ No analytics or session replay is included in the extension. 4️⃣ No feedback upload is used for drawing data. The extension requests only the Chrome side panel permission. It does not request access to websites, browsing history, tabs, page content, or all URLs. The converter works with the file that you explicitly choose or drop, and it does not inspect unrelated browser content. For reliable text output, convert live SVG text to outlines in your source design application before importing the file. The extension is intended for SVG geometry that can be represented as DXF drawing entities. It is not a browser-based Illustrator or a general-purpose SVG renderer, and it does not attempt to preserve every visual effect from the SVG format.
