Overview
Open any tab or link in an always-on-top PiP or a flexible popup window.
🪟 Super Pinned Windows - 3 in 1 Super Pinned Windows fundamentally improves your multitasking workflow. It lets you open any webpage in three flexible modes: PiP Mode (Picture-in-Picture) – a single, always-on-top, interactive floating window. Popup Mode – a minimal, independent window you can open multiple times. Side Panel Mode (Docked) – a fully interactive panel locked to the side of your browser window, perfect for notes, media controls, or companion apps. 🌟 Features Three Versatile Modes: PiP (always-on-top), Popup (multiple windows), and Side Panel (docked). Works on Any Website: PiP Mode and Side Panel Mode can load any website—even those with iframe restrictions (e.g., Google, YouTube). Fully Interactive: Windows in all three modes are fully functional browsers; scroll, click, log in, or type freely. Full Context Menu: Right-click any link to open it in PiP, Popup, or Side Panel mode. True Multitasking: Run all modes at once! You can have one PiP window, one Side Panel, and multiple Popup windows open simultaneously. Cross-Platform Topmost: Popup Mode automatically enables “Always-on-Top” for macOS and Linux. 💡 When to Use Each Mode 1. PiP Mode (Always-on-Top) Ideal for videos, tutorials, dashboards, or stock charts—always visible above other apps. Limitations: Only one PiP window at a time. The window is tied to its original tab. 2. Popup Mode (Popup Window) Perfect for reference pages, chats, or web tools. Fully independent windows. Limitations: On Windows, not automatically “Always-on-Top” (see below). 3. Side Panel Mode (Docked) Your persistent, integrated companion. Locks a webpage to the side of your browser. Best For: Persistent tools like notes, calculators, chat apps, or controlling media (Spotify, YouTube Music) without switching tabs. Limitations: Only one Side Panel at a time. It is docked, not floating. 🖥️ For Windows Users To enable “Always-on-Top” for Popup Mode on Windows, use Microsoft PowerToys → enable Always on Top, and press Win + Ctrl + T to pin a Popup window. 🚀 How to Use Click the extension icon → choose PiP, Popup, or Side Panel for the current tab. Or right-click a link → choose “Open as PiP”, “Open as Popup”, or “Open in Side Panel”. 🔬 How It Works PiP Mode: Uses Chrome’s documentPictureInPicture API and network request modification to bypass iframe restrictions. Popup Mode: Uses chrome.windows.create() with OS detection for optimal behavior. Side Panel Mode: Uses the chrome.sidePanel API with an iframe, sharing the same network modification as PiP mode to load any site. 📄 License MIT License Source code available on GitHub: github.com/pony0278/Super-PinnedWindows-google-extension
