Read raw manhwa, manhua and webtoons in English, right where you read them. Sunbae finds the speech bubbles, translates them and letters the English back into the bubbles, on the page itself. It is free and unlimited because nothing runs on a server: the AI comes inside the extension and works on your own computer. No account, no API key, no credits, no daily limit, and nothing you read is sent anywhere. WHY READERS USE IT • No limits: read as many chapters as you like. Nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for. • Lettered in place: the original text is cleaned away, the art underneath is repainted, and the new lines are set in a comic typeface sized to fit the bubble. • Names that stay right: it knows the established names of about 250 popular series, and in any other series it learns the names as you read and keeps one spelling from chapter to chapter. Correct a name once and your spelling is used from then on. • Chapters stay done: reload the page or come back another day, and a chapter you read appears at once, without being processed again. • Private: no page, no picture and no text leaves your computer. HOW TO USE IT 1. Open a chapter on the site where you read. 2. Click the Sunbae icon and press "Translate this chapter". The first time, this also turns it on for that site. 3. Read. The bubbles change from the top down as they are finished, and one click shows the original page again. On the next chapters a Translate button waits on the page, or tick one box and new chapters start by themselves. WHAT IT READS • Korean (manhwa, webtoons) and Chinese, simplified and traditional (manhua), into English. • Japanese manga is in beta: vertical text is read and translated, with more mistakes than in the other two languages. • Long-strip readers and paged readers alike. It takes the genre into account (martial arts, fantasy, romance, school action, horror), from the site, a list of known series or the text itself, and you can choose it yourself. WHAT YOUR COMPUTER NEEDS • A large download, once: about 1.8 GB (about 2 GB on disk), because the models are inside the extension. Nothing is downloaded after that. • For the full model: a graphics card the browser can use (WebGPU). Most from the last several years work, Intel integrated graphics too, more slowly. • Memory: a computer with about 8 GB for the full model; the lite model needs about 3 GB. • No usable graphics card, or little memory: a small lite model runs on the processor instead. It is quick and less accurate, reads Korean and Chinese, and the popup says what to expect. Nobody is locked out. • The popup measures your computer and shows how long a chapter takes on it. GOOD TO KNOW • Sound effects drawn into the artwork are left as they are. • A few readers lock their pages so that no extension can read them (several Japanese publishers' own viewers do). You are told when that happens. • This is machine translation: good for following a story, not a replacement for a professional one. If you enjoy a series, support its official release. PRIVACY Sunbae has no server. It collects nothing, sends nothing, and contains no analytics and no ads. Your settings, the series it remembers and the chapters it keeps stay in your browser, and it runs only on the sites you turn it on for.
